Scope of Position:An entry-level engineering position in the Measurements & Controls organization that includes the development, implementation, testing, and support of industrial control systems in support of manufacturing processes, automation, and inspection systems. Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to support the transfer of control system technology from development to manufacturing, ensuring safe, reliable, and repeatable operation in production environments.
Day to Day Responsibilities:- Contribute to engineering projects focused on the development and implementation of control and automation systems for manufacturing equipment and processes.
- Support the design, configuration, and testing of PLC-based control systems, including logic development, I/O configuration, and system validation.
- Assist with development and maintenance of HMI and operator interfaces.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define control system requirements.
- Participate in factory and site acceptance testing (FAT/SAT) and commissioning activities.
- Troubleshoot control system issues during development, startup, and production support.
- Support integration with sensors, vision systems, and industrial networks.
- Assist in documenting control system designs, software, and procedures for release to production.
- Support continuous improvement of system reliability, safety, and performance.
Travel Requirements:- 20-40% travel
- 1 day to several week trips are typical
Hours of work/work schedule/flextime:- 40+ hrs./week, Monday-Friday 8-5pm
Required Education:- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation Engineering, or a related field.
Required Experience/Skills:- 0-3 years of experience in controls, automation, or industrial systems engineering (internship or co-op acceptable).
- Basic knowledge of PLC programming concepts.
- Familiarity with industrial control platforms (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Beckhoff, or similar).
- Understanding of sensors, actuators, and industrial I/O systems.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Desired Experience/Skills:- Experience with HMI development tools.
- Exposure to industrial communication protocols (EtherNet/IP, Profinet, Modbus).
- Familiarity with machine safety concepts and safety PLCs.
- Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Exposure to motion control, robotics, or servo systems
Soft Skills:- Ability to work collaboratively with engineering, operations, and maintenance teams.
- Strong desire to learn and develop technical skills.
- Results-oriented mindset and ability to manage multiple tasks.
This position does not support immigration sponsorship. The range for this position is $71,067.00 - $97,718.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
