Role PurposePerforms a variety of technical duties and activities as a part of the Fiber Applied Research and Development (AR&D) controls engineering group, including support of on-going operations for process control systems and pollution abatement systems. There will also be opportunities to assist with on-going capital projects related to upgrades to existing process control systems.
Key Responsibilities- Provide controls engineering support to on-going operations in various fiber manufacturing process areas.
- Develop SOPs, system documentation, and electrical schematics for new and existing process equipment.
- Conduct on-site troubleshooting of both legacy and modern process control and pollution abatement equipment.
- Participate in the development of control architectures, control functional specifications, and system integration requirements that satisfy process and manufacturing needs.
- Add as-desired functionality to existing process control systems for product development.
Experiences/Education - Required- BS in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science, or a related engineering field.
- 0-2 years of Electrical/Controls experience.
- Understanding of electrical panel layout, schematic development, and system testing/troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with Allen-Bradley PLC programming (ladder logic, structured text).
- Exerience with PID controls and control loop tuning.
- Familiarity with sensors and process instrumentation (thermocouples, flow meters/controllers, level sensors, etc.).
- Willingness to learn new skills and gain a deeper understanding of processes.
- Strong technical communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Technical problem solving experience, critical thinking, and data-based decision making skills.
Experiences/Education - Desired- Electrical schematic development with AutoCAD Electrical software.
- Experience with FactoryTalk View HMI Systems.
- Familiarity with VFD functionality and experience with VFD troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with the fiber glassmaking process.
- Familiarity with NFPA 70/79 electrical standards.
- Familiarity with version control, code documentation, and testing practices.
- Documentation and/or technical report writing experience.
This position does not support immigration sponsorship. The range for this position is $70,818.00 - $97,375.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
