Controls/Electrical Engineer

JOB SUMMARY
Matheson is seeking a controls electrical engineer tojoin our team and work on various projects involving medium voltage switchgear,substation equipment, and related electrical systems. In collaboration withother engineers, project managers, and stakeholders, you will be responsiblefor assisting in the design, procurement, testing, modification, andinstallation of substations and medium voltage systems equipment.

Essential Functions
Design, test, install, and maintain medium voltageswitchgear and substation equipment for industrial applications, such astransformers, breakers, relays, meters, and control panels.
Use power system analysis software, AutoCAD, and simulationtools to conduct FEED studies and system modeling.
Review and refine power system studies, such as load flow,short circuit, protection coordination, arc flash, and transient stability.
Ensure compliance with industry standards such as IEEE,ANSI, NEMA, NEC, and regulatory requirements.
Prepare procurement inquiry documents, technicalspecifications, requests for proposal (RFPs), and bid evaluation criteria formedium voltage switchgear, substation equipment, and related electricalsystems.
Assess equipment specifications, quality standards, andcompliance requirements for procurement activities.
Negotiate with suppliers, manage vendor relationships, andoversee procurement contracts.
Perform and supervise testing and commissioning ofsubstation equipment and systems, such as insulation resistance, contactresistance, power factor, circuit breaker timing, and protection relay testing.
Document and communicate project progress, issues, andsolutions to stakeholders and management.
Coordinate with project teams and other disciplines toensure the integration and optimization of electrical systems.

Education
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related fieldis required

Work Experience
Minimum 5 years' experience is required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Understanding of safety regulations and compliance inelectrical systems.
Experience in industrial electrical engineering, with afocus on medium voltage systems, switchgear modification, testing, andinstallation.
Experience in substation design, operation, and maintenance,including transformers, breakers, relays, meters, and control panels.
player with collaborative leadership skills to coordinateproject teams and work with other disciplines.
Knowledge of NETA testing standards and procedures relatedto medium voltage equipment and switchgear.
Experience in interpreting test results, analyzing equipmentperformance, and identifying potential issues.
Ability to collaborate with NETA testing teams, coordinatetesting schedules, and ensure compliance with testing requirements.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in test procedures,documentation, and reporting for NETA testing activities.
