PRODUCT CONTROL - ASSET MANAGEMENT- PRIVATE

The successful candidate will join the Asset & Wealth Management (AWM) Private Product Control team, which is responsible for private asset valuation oversight, financial reporting and product control functions across the firm's alternative investment platforms.

The role will support the valuation and independent price verification (IPV) and valuation oversight of illiquid private investments across various multiple alternative asset classes and strategies, including, private equity, infrastructure, growth equity, private debt, and real estate. The candidate will be responsible for performing analysis of valuation inputs, reviewing third-party pricing, preparing valuation support for fair value reviews, and supporting regulatory, investor and management reporting. The candidate will have direct interaction with Partner / Managing Director level individuals in various teams across the firm.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITES
  • Manage and perform illiquid equity valuation reviews across multiple alternative asset classes and strategies, including growth equity, private equity, infrastructure equity, and other equity strategies
  • Prepare valuation materials and sensitivity analyses, including presentations to senior stakeholders in Controllers and AWM
  • Apply various valuation approaches in analysis including Market approach (public comps, precedent transactions, index proxies), Income approach (DCF, scenario-based analyses), Net asset value and hybrid methodologies, where applicable
  • Perform deal-related reviews by leading coordination efforts with AWM Finance, Accounting Policy, Regulatory Policy, Legal, Tax, ACF, and other control functions to assess accounting treatment, valuation considerations, and disclosure impacts at the Goldman group level and the relevant funds
  • Manage and actively participate in teamwide and firmwide strategic initiatives focused on process improvement and automation to drive collaboration across stakeholders
  • Regular interaction with Controllers management, the Portfolio Management team and support areas such as Fund Accounting, Operations, Technology, Risk, Legal, Compliance and Investor Relations
  • Involvement in external/internal audit review process
  • Manage the development of junior team members through coaching and mentoring

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • At least 6-10+ years of relevant work experience preferably in valuation advisory, alternative asset management, or valuation control
  • Bachelors Degree (Accounting, Economics or Finance degree preferred)
  • CPA / CFA or MBA preferred, but not required
  • Comprehensive understanding of Private Equity, Private Debt, and Real Estate valuations, including in-depth knowledge of valuation methodologies, including market approach and DCF. Complex capital structure equity allocation knowledge preferred
  • Strong understanding of the fixed income and equity markets and the alternative investment management industry
  • Strong knowledge of valuation related accounting disclosures (ASC 820, etc)
  • Experience managing a team and/or mentoring junior team members
  • Strong quantitative, analytical and organizational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to clearly articulate ideas and interact with various teams across the firm, experience presenting/communicating with senior managers
  • Highly motivated and adaptable: the ability to work on a global team of diverse individuals
  • Proactive: the ability to respond creatively and quickly in a fast-paced, high-pressure, changing environment
  • Accurate and detail-oriented with sound judgment and integrity

Salary Range
The expected base salary for this New York, NY, United States-based position is $100000-$250000. In addition, you may be eligible for a discretionary bonus if you are an active employee as of fiscal year-end.
