Full Job Description
The Opportunity: Controller

Tilt is looking for a Controller to lead our accounting operations and build the infrastructure to support public company readiness. Reporting to the Head of Accounting, youll lead a team of accountants and be the operational backbone of our finance function, partnering closely with FP&A, Legal, and other stakeholders to ensure our financial house is built to last. This is a role for a hands-on leader who thrives on building - someone who wants their fingerprints on how a company scales.
How Youll Make an Impact
  • Own the Close: Lead all aspects of US accounting operations and consolidation, delivering accurate, timely financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Build for Scale: Redesign the accounting operations from the ground up, establishing best practices, standardizing processes, and creating the infrastructure needed to support IPO readiness and beyond.
  • Strengthen the Control Environment: Design, implement, and maintain a robust system of internal controls that safeguards assets, ensures reporting integrity, and meets SEC and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead and Develop the Team: Manage and mentor a team of accountants, while also rolling up your sleeves as an individual contributor where needed.
  • Champion an Automation Mindset: Identify where AI and automation can uplevel the team - shifting work from manual preparation to high-judgment review and analysis.
  • Serve as a Key Financial Liaison: Coordinate with internal stakeholders, external auditors, regulators, and investors, ensuring clear and transparent communication on the companys financial position.
Why Youre a Great Fit
  • Financial services background required - youve worked in a fintech or consumer credit environment and understand the nuanced accounting that comes with it.
  • 10+ years in accounting/finance, with experience in a leadership role; youre equally comfortable as a manager and as someone who still gets their hands dirty.
  • NetSuite power user - you can configure, optimize, and get the most out of the platform without outside help.
  • Operator at heart - youve rebuilt or stood up accounting operations before and know what "good" looks like for a company on the path to IPO.
  • Curious about automation - you dont need to be an AI expert, but you should be excited about what it means for the future of accounting and eager to bring that thinking to the team.
  • SQL familiarity is a plus - comfortable reading queries and working cross-functionally with data and FP&A teams.
Our Interview Process
  1. Initial recruiter call: A conversation to learn about your experience and what youre looking for in your next role.
  2. Hiring manager interview: A deeper discussion about your background and approach to solving challenges.
  3. Skills panel: Meet with Tilt team members to discuss your expertise and problem-solving approach through real-world scenarios.
  4. Leadership conversations: Conversations with our CFO and CEO to discuss our mission and how you could contribute to it (and how we can help you achieve your career goals along the way).

Dont meet every qualification? We care about potential over your past. If youre bringing ambition and drive to what were building, we want to hear from you.

What youll get at Tilt
  • Virtual-first teamwork: The Tilt team is collaborating across 14 countries, 12 time zones, and counting. Youll get started with a WFH office reimbursement.
  • Competitive pay: Were big on potential, and its reflected in our competitive compensation packages and generous equity.
  • Complete support: Find flexible health plans at every premium level, and substantial subsidies that stand up to global standards.
  • Visibility is yours: You can count on direct exposure to our leadership team - were a team where good ideas travel quickly.
  • Paid global onsites: Magic happens IRL: we gather twice yearly to reconnect over shared meals or kayaking adventures. (Weve visited Vail, San Diego, and Mexico City, to name a few.)
  • Impact is recognized: Growth opportunities follow your contributions, not rigid promotion timelines.
