Overview
We are seeking a hands-on, strategic Controller to oversee our accounting department and financial operations. This role is perfect for a leader who is not afraid to jump in to solve problems, understands the complexities of multi-entity accounting, and is eager to streamline processes. You will manage a dedicated team, work closely with our outsourced accounting partners, and serve as a key business partner to the Executive team.
What you'll do for us:
- Lead the Accounting Department, including outsourced accounting operations, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Partner with third-party accounting and tax providers to streamline processes and meet critical reporting deadlines.
- Oversee corporate accounting, including monthly financial statements, budgeting, forecasting, and fee billings.
- Manage year-end financial reporting, tax preparation, and cash-to-accrual conversions.
- Review trial balances, journal entries, and reconciliations to ensure financial accuracy and compliance.
- Collaborate with the CFO on financial planning, forecasting, tax projections, and strategic accounting initiatives.
- Serve as the primary contact for banking relationships and corporate cash management.
- Prepare executive financial reports, analyses, and budgeting materials to support business decisions.
- Lead the financial coordination of acquisitions, dispositions, investor reporting, and ownership requests.
- Drive continuous process improvements, strengthen internal controls, and partner cross-functionally to support organizational success.
Qualifications
Must Haves:
- Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Excellent presentation and executive communication skills.
- Demonstrated experience leading accounting operations within a multi-entity organization.
- Strong understanding of partnership accounting, tenancy-in-common (TIC) structures, and complex ownership entities.
- Experience managing both corporate and property accounting functions.
- Ability to identify process improvements and successfully implement operational efficiencies.
- Comfortable making independent decisions while exercising sound financial judgment.
Education and Training:
- Master's degree in accounting, finance, Corporate Finance or CPA preferred
Great to haves:
- Experience with Yardi Voyager strongly preferred
- Experience with SAP Concur
Compensation
The compensation for this position is $175,000 - $ 225,000 / year.
