Full Job Description
Job Title: Controller or Senior Accountant

Reports to: Managing Partner

Job Summary: Provide leadership and coordination of company financial reporting, benchmarking and budget management functions, policies, procedures and reporting systems. Ensure accounting procedures conform to accounting principles.

Salary Range & Benefits: Commensurate with experience, standard firm benefits

Hours Required: 40 hrs.

FLSA Status: Exempt

Major Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Effectively maintains accurate and timely dissemination of financial management reports including, but not limited to, internal monthly financial statements, cash collections, partner income, revenue analysis and other reports as requested.
  • Effectively maintain all accurate and timely processing of accounts payable, petty cash, employee expense reports, cash control, payroll processing and total corporate payroll tax compliance.
  • Effectively maintain, either personally or through subordinate personnel, accurate and timely management of all accounts receivable aging components including billings, cash receipts application, quarter and year-end payroll closing including federal and state reports, etc.
  • Effectively maintain, either personally or through subordinate personnel, all accounting issues and services including accurate and timely financial statements production and billing and account statement production.
  • Monitor and analyze monthly operating results against both budget and prior year's actual.
  • Review benchmark reports for measuring the financial and operating performance of divisions and departments.
  • Preparation of financials and schedules for year-end tax and franchise tax returns.
  • Correct, as needed, employee time entries and project miscodings.
  • Weekly China expense reconciliation to China banks.
  • Maintain registration with state boards of public accountancy and other international organizations.
  • Maintain personal property rendition and assure timely filings.
  • Year-end reconciliation of China team prepared China office financial statements to U.S. financials.
  • Timely distribution of funds to 401k and health savings accounts (HAS).
  • Gathering of information for professional liability insurance renewals.
  • Adding new employees with proper security preferences to time management software.
  • Other duties as assigned

The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:
  • Minimum of 5 years of recent financial reporting work experience.
  • Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Knowledge of federal and state financial regulations.
  • Working knowledge of short and long-term budgeting and forecasting, rolling budgets.
  • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software programs, including spreadsheet programs (i.e. Excel), and QuickBooks.
  • Bilingual in English and Chinese preferred but not required.

Education and Licenses:
  • Bachelor degree in Accounting or related field
  • Advanced degree is highly desirable
  • CPA is preferred but not required
