Job Contributions and Key Responsibilities

Operations Accounting
• Responsible for the preparation and accuracy of:

- Monthly financial statements

- Monthly cost reports

- Monthly forecast

- Reports to support monthly management meetings

- Supporting documentation and working papers
• Manage cost accounting processes, including volume estimations, NHC estimations and revisions to per unit amortization rates.
• Responsible for the preparation and distribution of

- Management reporting

- Monthly crop statements

- Non-harvest reporting
• Accountable for the tracking, monitoring and approval of Capital Expenditures for all operational entities.
• Responsibility and accountability over full balances sheet of operational legal entities, including cash, receivables, payables, other assets and liabilities.

Accounting Compliance
• Ensure compliance of company accounting policies and procedures, and assure the implementation of compliance, monitoring systems, internal controls of such controls as directed by the Corporate Controller
• Frequent review of current policies and procedures
• Make recommendations for improvements as they relate to efficiencies or improvements in the quality of usefulness of deliverables.
• Responsibility and accountability over full balance sheet of operational legal entities including cash, receivables, payables, other assets and liabilities.
• Ensure accounting procedures are in compliance with US GAAP
• Develop accounting policies to support new business requirements (ex. Substrate growing methods, nursery activities)

Operational Analysis, Reporting and Decision Management
• Closely collaborate with Division Management and Partners
• Support operations by providing timely and accurate information, analysis and reporting.
• Provide insightful analysis of operations for proactive management decisions
• Provide business management, support and training to operations personnel.
• Prepare ad hoc analysis as requested by Operational Management.
• Develop and implement new analysis and reporting pertinent to business model changes (ex. substrate growing methods, nursery activities)

Team Management
• Lead and manage staff of Accounting Managers and degreed accountants
• Supervise the Operations Accounting staff in a manner that allows them to achieve the company's goals and objectives.
• Delegate responsibility to Accounting Managers and Operational Accountants
• Develop managers and team to take on further analysis and reporting.
• Lead team to identify tasks that may be eliminated or streamlines to reduce staff time.

Business Process Improvements
• Develop a strong understanding of the systems used in the financial management of our enterprise (ERP and supporting systems)
• Actively participate in the ongoing maintenance of our financial / accounting systems and suggest revisions and changes where appropriate
• Take the lead in improving processes by driving change.
• Review, analyze and implement other district's processes.
• Work in close collaboration with other departments and use existing resources to streamline inter-departmental processes.
• Develop efficiencies in the accounting processes to reduce costs and increase the effectiveness of the department.

Departamental G&A Management
• Manage spending team cost center within approved budget for calendar year
• Manage allocation of resources and spending for efficiency

• Fluency in English required and Spanish required, knowledge of additional languages would be useful.

Education Level: Bachelor's Degree

Field/s of Education:
• Finance / Accounting
• Business Administración

Years of Experience:
• Minimum 5 years' experience in a Controller position in private industry or similar advanced experience in Public Accounting.
• Advanced experience and knowledge of Oracle or similar scale ERP Systems highly desired

Specializations, Certifications and Specific Experience:
• CPA, CMA or MBA - Preferred

Licenses: If driving is a necessary part of a job employees are required to possess a valid driver's license.

Languages:
• English & Spanish >95%

Necessary Software:
• Microsoft Office Suite - Advance

Travel Requirements:
• Ability to travel 5% of the time - domestic and international

Pay Scale: $129,748 - $143,919
