Full Job Description
Location: Northern Roads Auto Group Head Office - 7960 Oakwood Drive

Availability: Full-Time, Monday to Friday

You'll love your position as Controller:

As Controller, you'll oversee the accounting operations of one dealership or support multiple dealerships within Northern Roads Auto Group. This is a hands-on leadership position ideal for a designated CPA who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys wearing multiple hats, and is passionate about building strong financial processes.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Preparing accurate and timely monthly financial statements, including OEM manufacturer financial reporting.
  • Leading the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close process.
  • Overseeing accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll support, and general ledger activity.
  • Reviewing deal postings, ensuring accuracy of paperwork, and validating reported gross profit.
  • Reconciling balance sheet accounts and maintaining accurate financial schedules.
  • Monitoring cash flow and supporting banking and treasury functions.
  • Assisting with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis for senior leadership.
  • Coordinating annual audits and responding to CRA, banking, and manufacturer reporting requirements.
  • Maintaining strong internal controls and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Reconciling intercompany transactions across multiple dealerships and related entities.
  • Supervising, mentoring, and developing the accounting team.
  • Developing and improving accounting procedures, SOPs, automation initiatives, and DMS processes.
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives while embracing new technologies, AI tools, and process automation.

Required Qualifications
  • CPA designation (required).
  • Several years of progressive accounting experience with responsibility for the full accounting cycle.
  • Experience preparing financial statements.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, reconciliations, and internal controls.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • A continuous improvement mindset with an interest in automation and technology.


Strong Assets
  • Automotive dealership accounting experience.
  • Experience using a Dealer Management System (PBS, CDK, Reynolds & Reynolds, or similar).
  • Experience preparing OEM dealer financial statements.
  • Previous supervisory or management experience.
  • Multi-entity or multi-location accounting experience.
  • Payroll experience.
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, or financial planning software.
