Salary Range: $115,000-$135,000 annuallyTHE ROLECroix Gear is seeking a hands-on Controller to lead the company's accounting and financial operations. This role will oversee financial reporting, monthly close, cost accounting, inventory, budgeting and forecasting, cash management, internal controls, and day-to-day accounting operations.
The Controller will also play a key role in the company's ERP transition and will partner closely with Operations and leadership to improve costing, inventory accuracy, reporting, and financial decision-making.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the monthly close and prepare accurate, timely financial statements and reporting packages.
- Oversee general accounting, AP, AR, cash management, fixed assets, and payroll accounting.
- Own manufacturing cost accounting, job costing, inventory costing, and variance analysis.
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, cash-flow planning, and financial analysis.
- Manage internal controls, accounting policies, and financial processes.
- Support asset-based lending reporting, borrowing base preparation, and lender requirements.
- Serve as the Finance lead for the ERP implementation and process improvement initiatives.
- Partner with Operations to improve inventory accuracy, costing, data integrity, and profitability analysis.
- Manage relationships with auditors, tax advisors, banks, lenders, and other financial partners.
- Lead and develop the accounting team.
- Provide financial insight and recommendations to the CEO and leadership team.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration with an accounting or finance concentration, Economics, or similar discipline with substantial accounting coursework.
- 7+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience.
- Manufacturing accounting experience required.
- Strong experience with cost accounting, inventory, and financial reporting.
- Prior Controller, Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager, or similar leadership experience.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls.
- ERP system experience; ERP implementation or conversion experience strongly preferred.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Strong analytical, communication, and business-partnering skills.
- Ability to work on-site in Hudson, WI five days per week.
Preferred- CPA, CMA, MBA, or similar credentials.
- Asset-based lending experience.
- Private equity or lower middle-market experience.
- Lean or continuous-improvement manufacturing experience.
