About the Role:The Controller is responsible for overseeing all corporate and divisional accounting operations, financial planning and analysis (FP&A), and internal controls. This role partners closely with the CFO and senior leadership to provide accurate, timely, and actionable financial information, ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, and drive financial discipline, operational efficiency, and strategic decision-making across the organization.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESAccounting Operations & Controls- Oversee all corporate and divisional accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll oversight, fixed assets, and intercompany accounting.
- Maintain the Chart of Accounts and ensure the integrity of financial data.
- Ensure effective internal controls for all accounting-related transactions.
- Direct and manage monthly and year-end close processes in collaboration with the CFO.
- Maintain enterprise accounting system access and controls (Timberline/Sage preferred).
Financial Planning, Analysis & Reporting - Lead all FP&A activities, including forecasting, budgeting, cost analysis, and profitability reporting.
- Provide leadership with timely financial insights related to performance, trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Prepare, review, and approve monthly journal entries, reconciliations, and sub-ledger tie-outs.
- Oversee monthly divisional contract status, cost/sell analysis, under-billed, and project profitability reporting.
- Review and approve commission reports in accordance with contractual agreements.
Audit, Compliance & Tax- Coordinate and support all audits and compliance activities.
- Review and approve bank reconciliations and cash transfer entries.
- Oversee sales and use tax filings for state and local compliance.
- Oversee fixed asset capitalization and depreciation policies.
- Review and approve annual property tax filings.
Leadership & Team Development- Lead, coach, and develop accounting and finance team members.
- Strengthen internal communication and cross-functional collaboration.
- Clarify roles and responsibilities to maximize team effectiveness.

Additional Responsibilities- Support special projects, system improvements, and process enhancements.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the CFO.
JOB REQUIREMENTS- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required.
- 15+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience.
- Minimum of 5 years in a management role, must be within the construction industry.
- Strong background in construction required.
- Experience with enterprise accounting systems (Timberline/Sage preferred).
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial controls, and compliance.
- Exceptional analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines with high accuracy.
- Ability to see at close range.
- Ability to crouch, reach, grasp, and lift up to 10 pounds.
