Responsibilities

UHS is currently recruiting for our Controller at South Texas Health System - McAllen Heart in McAllen, Texas. McAllen Heart Hospital was the first freestanding cardiology and cardiovascular hospital built in the United States and is dedicated solely to heart-related medical needs for patients, including diagnosis and treatment, emergency heart care, heart catheterization, heart surgery and education. McAllen Heart Hospital is a full Cycle II Chest Pain Center accredited with PCI, as well as a Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence. The 60-bed hospital opened in January 1996 providing comprehensive inpatient and outpatient cardiac care, and a 24-hour Emergency Center.

The Controller supports the market through various roles and responsibilities which may include providing direct oversight of the finance department including General Ledger, Payroll, Account's Payable and Decision Support staff. The Controller also interacts with all Hospital departments ensuring proper utilization and accounting of Hospital capital and operating resources in accordance with Corporate and Hospital financial policies and procedures. The position will require active participation and possible oversight for different components of the Revenue Cycle and Supply Chain within the organization including: Business Office, Care Management, Health Information Management, Clinical Documentation Improvement, and Materials Management/Supply Chain.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience coordinating and/or supervising acute care hospital/medical center finance staff including: Accounts Payable, Decision Support, General Ledger and Payroll
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Computer hardware/software skills required.
  • Completion of training programs, as required.
  • Education Required: Bachelors degree. CPA preferred.
