ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking an experienced Controller to join our team in a 15-month fixed-term contract role. This is a strategic, hands-on leadership opportunity for someone who is equally comfortable setting direction and rolling up their sleeves in a lean, fast-growing environment.

As Controller, you will lead the accounting function and play a key role in ensuring the integrity of financial reporting, the effectiveness of internal controls, and the delivery of timely, accurate financial information that supports business decision-making.

You will oversee core accounting operations, treasury, payroll, tax, and compliance, while helping scale and strengthen the finance function to support continued growth. This role will also be instrumental in improving processes, optimizing systems and workflows, and reducing manual effort to drive greater efficiency, visibility, and control across the organization.

The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting expertise, sound judgment, and a practical, leadership-oriented mindset. You are someone who thrives in dynamic environments, enjoys building structure and improving processes, and can confidently lead change while supporting and elevating the broader finance function.

Salary Range: $130,000 - $150,000 CAD annually, based on experience and qualifications.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead the accounting function, ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of financial reporting in accordance with Canadian accounting standards (ASPE).
  • Drive and optimize the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close process, improving efficiency, accountability, and reporting quality
  • Own accounting-led management reporting and partner with FP&A on broader financial analysis and insights to support leadership decision-making.
  • Manage external audit and review processes, ensuring readiness, strong coordination, and timely completion.
  • Lead and develop the accounting team, fostering accountability, collaboration, and high performance across the finance function.
  • Oversee treasury management, including cash management, cash flow forecasting, capital planning, and banking relationships.
  • Provide oversight of payroll, tax, and regulatory compliance, ensuring accurate filings, remittances, and adherence to applicable requirements.
  • Oversee equity plan administration in partnership with the People Operations team, ensuring effective and accurate execution.
  • Establish and maintain an effective internal control environment to safeguard company assets, support operational integrity, and strengthen finance discipline.
  • Lead core accounting operations, accounts payable and supplier costing, while redesigning processes to improve accuracy, efficiency, and process consistency.
  • Drive the modernization of finance systems, processes, and workflows, identifying opportunities to automate, streamline, and use AI-enabled workflows to improve efficiency and strengthen financial insights.
  • Support strategic finance initiatives and deliver ad hoc analysis to support and inform leadership decision-making.

REQUIREMENTS
  • CPA designation required
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in controllership, accounting, or finance leadership, including several years in a leadership role
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian accounting standards (ASPE or IFRS) and Canadian tax regulations
  • Experience leading the close process, strengthening internal controls, and delivering management reporting in a complex or growing environment
  • Experience with treasury management, cash flow forecasting, and liquidity planning
  • Demonstrated success transforming finance processes, implementing or optimizing systems, and building scalable ways of working
  • Strong proficiency in accounting systems and advanced Excel skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to balance accuracy with pace in a dynamic environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams
