Full Job Description
While working under direction of the Shift Supervisor, and with a team of Operators, is responsible for monitoring the status of all plant systems on a continuous basis. The position will respond to alarms, take appropriate corrective actions, and execute approved plant shutdown and start-up procedures, to assure the plant meets its operational, environmental, and safety commitments, while operating in safe and environmentally efficient manner. The Control Room Operator provides guidance to other team members, to address various plant conditions during the shift, to support the safe and efficient operation of the facility.
Responsibilities:
Monitor and regulate the operation of systems, and its components, including steam generation, condensate, feed water, turbine/generator, circulating water, service water, fuel handling, ash handling, electrical, fire protection, air pollution control, and various computer networks.
Accurately record data on required logs and identify and correct abnormal operating conditions or emergency situations.
Initiate and conduct periodic surveillance tests and operating safety checks on equipment.
Train subordinate operators with the operating principles of the power facility’s systems, components, and steam cycles.
Position Requirements:
High school diploma/GED, with a minimum of 5 years’ power plant or relevant experience in an operating or generating plant, with high-pressure boilers and electric generating equipment.
Technical or trade school background is desirable; however, hands-on boiler house experience as a Control Room Operator is desired.
Strong leadership and motivational proficiencies, including excellent oral and written skills, and reliable problem solving and decision-making ability. Essential math skills to complete required job function is required.
Ability to manage critical events and prioritize in an emergency, providing clear directions in operational, safety, and environmental tasks.
Possess basic computer skills and experience reading blueprints, piping and instrumentation diagrams, and vendor technical manuals.
Be able to work on a 12-hour rotating shift including days, nights, weekends and holidays, with the ability to stay alert while sitting for long periods of time. Must be able to support a flexible schedule, as a relief operator, to provide shift coverage requirements in the various qualified positions.
Pass the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) QRO Provisional licensing exam within the first year of holding the position.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to work in all locations within the plant, including confined spaces, under extreme conditions of hot and cold, and in areas of dust, noise, and wet conditions.
Must be able to wear a respirator.
Must be able to climb a ladder and structures to access equipment, and work from heights using fall protection.
Lift heavy objects up to 50 pounds, and other manual labor to including pushing, pulling, sweeping, and shoveling.

Pay Transparency

The range below reflects Reworld’s reasonable estimate of base pay for this role based on primary posting location. It is expected that most qualified candidates in this location will fall within the posting range. The final salary offered for this role will be determined based on factors including, but not limited to: experience, education, geographic location, skills and competencies, travel requirements and/or union contracts (if applicable). Pay ranges are reviewed from time to time and may be modified in the future.
The pay range for the primary location of this position is: $82,900.00 - $110,400.00 USD. For hourly roles, this is the annualized salary. To calculate the hourly rate, divide by 2080.
