Job Description

Contracts Support Specialist

LCAT: Contract Support Specialist

Location: Remote (U.S.) - up to 25% travel to the DMV (D.C., Maryland, Virginia)

Salary Range: $75,000 - $125,000, commensurate with experience

Employment Type: Full-time, exempt

Reports To: Contracts Leadership

POSITION OVERVIEW

Crimson Phoenix is hiring a Contracts Support Specialist to own the full contract lifecycle - cradle to grave - across our federal portfolio. This is a hands-on role for someone who is equally comfortable building a proposal volume at 11 p.m. during a sprint and serving as the confident, go-to expert on their contracts for program managers, recruiters, executives, and government customers.

We are looking for a doer, not an overseer. The right person has enough scar tissue to make judgment calls without escalating everything, and enough humility to do the unglamorous work that keeps contracts clean, compliant, and profitable.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Cradle-to-Grave Ownership. Support the full contract lifecycle from opportunity identification and proposal development through award, administration, modification, and closeout.
  • Proposal Support. Draft, review, and assemble pricing and contractual volumes; manage compliance matrices, representations and certifications, and submission deadlines across SAM.gov, eBuy, and agency portals.
  • Contract Administration. Administer prime and subcontract agreements, NDAs, teaming agreements, and consultant agreements; track period of performance, funding, option exercises, CLIN structure, and deliverables.
  • Customer Interface. Serve as the primary point of contact to Contracting Officers and COs/CORs; draft and respond to correspondence, REAs, cure notices, and modification requests.
  • Compliance. Ensure compliance with the FAR, DFARS, and applicable agency supplements; maintain audit-ready contract files and support CPSR, DCAA, and internal audit requests.
  • Financial Coordination. Partner with Finance on invoicing accuracy, funding burn, and revenue recognition; flag at-risk funding before it becomes a problem.
  • Internal Expertise. Act as the recognized expert on assigned contracts - interpret terms, advise Delivery and Recruiting on staffing and LCAT constraints, and resolve issues without waiting to be asked.
  • Growth Support. Support pipeline tracking, teaming decisions, and past performance documentation in coordination with Business Development.

Required Skills

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience in lieu of degree.
  • 5+ years of government contracting experience spanning both proposal support and contract administration.
  • Working knowledge of the FAR and DFARS, contract types (FFP, T&M, CPFF, IDIQ/BPA task orders), and the federal acquisition process end to end.
  • Demonstrated experience acting as the day-to-day owner of a contract portfolio with limited oversight.
  • Strong written and verbal communication; able to hold a room, push back respectfully, and give a clear answer to a hard question.
  • Availability to work extended hours and weekends during proposal sprints and time-sensitive contract actions.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% to the DMV area.
  • U.S. citizenship required.

Desired Skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Department of Defense contracting background strongly preferred; Intelligence Community experience is equally valued.
  • Active or reinstatable security clearance.
  • Experience supporting a professional services or staffing contractor, including LCAT mapping and rate build-up.
  • NCMA certification (CFCM, CPCM) or comparable professional credential.
  • Experience with subcontracts administration, small business subcontracting plans, and flow-down requirements.

Additional Details

WHO THRIVES HERE

  • Selfless. You optimize for the team and the mission, not for credit. If it needs doing, you do it.
  • Hardworking. You show up during the sprint, and you are happy to be called on when the mission needs support.
  • Confident. You are comfortable being the expert in the room and owning the answer.
  • Hands-on. You would rather build the document than route it.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Base salary of $75,000 - $125,000, determined by experience, clearance, and scope of portfolio. Crimson Phoenix offers a full benefits package including medical, dental, and vision coverage, 401(k), and paid time off.
