The Legal and Compliance Department ensures that Roche operates within the boundaries of laws, regulations, and ethical standards. We protect Roche's interests and reputation by providing creative and business-focused legal advice, drafting and reviewing contracts, managing litigation, and addressing compliance issues.

We also collaborate with other departments to develop and implement policies and procedures that promote ethical business behavior, patient safety, data privacy, and transparency, while maximizing the value of our intellectual property. We play a vital role in maintaining the company's integrity and freedom to operate.

The Opportunity:

As a Contract Analyst reporting into the Legal function, you will play a pivotal role in accelerating Roche's clinical research and product development pipeline across Canada.

Your core responsibilities will include:

  • Drafting and negotiating clinical trial agreements (CTAs), confidentiality agreements, and related product development contracts.

  • Partnering and collaborating with external stakeholders, including major academic hospitals, clinical research sites, and prominent research universities across Canada.

  • Ensuring risk mitigation and compliance by aligning agreement terms with Roches internal policies, Canadian healthcare regulations, data privacy laws, and ethical standards.

  • Managing the contract lifecycle from initial intake and drafting through redlines, negotiation, approval, and final execution.

  • Providing legal support to internal clinical operations and study management teams to resolve contract-related bottlenecks efficiently.

  • Assisting the Legal department with ad-hoc projects, including the maintenance and optimization of contract templates, playbooks, and internal guidance documents.

Who You Are:

  • You hold a formal Law Clerk training (e.g., Law Clerk/ diploma or equivalent legal education/certification).

  • You posses 3+ years of experience and demontrate a strong foundational interest in drafting and negotiating contracts within the Canadian legal landscape.

  • You are self-motivated and capable of working independently, managing multiple contract files simultaneously with strict attention to detail.

  • You possess excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to bridge gaps between legal requirements and clinical research goals.

  • You have a collaborative mindset capable of building strong relationships with both internal business partners and external institutional representatives.

Preferred:

  • You have prior experience negotiating clinical trial agreements or working within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or broader healthcare/research sector.

  • You demonstrate familiarity with intellectual property provisions, liability/indemnification clauses, and Canadian health data privacy considerations.

Relocation benefits are not available for this position.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Mississauga is 89,256.00 and 117,148.50 of hiring range. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors as determined by the company.
