Full Job Description
Job Description

Turner & Townsend is seeking a Contract Analyst / Contract Reviewer ready to move from supporting the deal to driving the deal. As a Contract Analyst / Contract Reviewer in our Global Risk Management team, you will act as a bridge between high-stakes legal strategy and operational execution. This is not a traditional document-review role; it is a strategic position where your deep understanding of consultancy contracts and allocation of risk in professional services engagements and construction transactions will directly influence project profitability and risk mitigation. You will support the operational business to establish contracts with its clients and suppliers, advising on the associated risk to mitigate future litigation.

The Opportunity

You will step out of the "back office" and into a position of influence. We are looking for an expert in contract mechanics, who understands the nuances of construction and development agreements to help our operational teams navigate complex negotiations, protect our interests, and streamline the path from contract to project delivery. If you are tired of formatting documents and want to be the person who influences what goes into them, this role is for you.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Deal Analysis: Review, redline, and negotiate key terms for professional services agreements, master service agreements (MSAs), work orders, non-disclosure agreements (NDAs), and other client-facing consultancy contracts and supply contracts. You will be the technical lead in contract language, translating complex legal obligations into clear operational guidance for our project teams.
  • Commercial Risk Mitigation: Identify potential liabilities early in the development lifecycle. Use your experience in professional service transactions to anticipate issues, recommend modifications, and protect the firm's bottom line.
  • Lifecycle Management: Own the integrity of the contract lifecycle. From initial drafting and review to final execution and compliance monitoring, you will ensure all parties understand their obligations and that documents align with our corporate risk standards.
  • Cross-Functional Partnership: Act as the primary liaison between legal, insurance brokers, and project leads. You will facilitate the resolution of contractual roadblocks, helping teams get to work faster while maintaining robust compliance.
  • Process Architecture: Help build and refine our contract management systems and internal policies. Your feedback will help us evolve how we handle risk on a global scale.

What You Bring
  • Transaction Expertise: Proven experience reviewing, drafting, negotiating, or administering professional services agreements, consultancy appointments, master service agreements, work orders, or similar commercial contracts within the construction, infrastructure, engineering, real estate, or professional services sectors. You understand the architecture of a deal-how schedules, exhibits, and master agreements interact.
  • The "Analyst" Mindset: You aren't just looking for typos; you are looking for risk. You have a keen ability to analyze the commercial impact of a clause and propose creative solutions that balance risk with project goals.
  • Legal Mechanical Proficiency: You possess a high degree of comfort with legal mechanics (redlining, clause drafting, interpreting governing law). Whether you are an experienced paralegal, legal assistant, or contract administrator, you can navigate complex legal documents with precision.
  • Technical Savvy: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is a baseline. Experience with contract management platforms or document automation tools is a significant plus.
  • Professional Influence: You can explain complex concepts to non-legal colleagues and manage multiple stakeholders effectively without losing sight of deadlines.

Why This Role?
  • Work-Life Balance: Move away from the "billable hours" grind of law firms and into a dynamic, corporate in-house environment that values efficiency over excessive hours.
  • Impact: You will see the direct results of your work in the physical construction projects we deliver.
  • Growth: This role is a platform for career growth into broader commercial management, project risk oversight, or senior-level contract operations.
  • Work Arrangement This role is based in our Houston office and requires a hybrid presence of two to three days per week.

Qualifications
  • B.S. Degree, and minimum of 2-5 years of experience in paralegal, contract analyst, or contract specialist, commercial risk roles within the construction or commercial real estate industry highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience managing the full lifecycle of complex commercial contracts.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills suitable for managing high-level stakeholder relationships.
  • Experience in contract development, supporting drafting bespoke contract schedules and clauses and reviewing contract documents prepared by others.
  • Ability to liaise with and coordinate multiple stakeholders to develop robust contract documents.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Examples include Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint, etc
