SUMMARY OF POSITION

The Continuous Improvement Manager is responsible for driving operational excellence initiatives across multiple manufacturing sites. This role focuses on identifying, prioritizing, and executing continuous improvement opportunities using Lean, Six Sigma, and problem-solving methodologies. The position has no direct reports but requires strong cross-functional leadership and the ability to influence plant leaders, engineers, and frontline teams.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives across multiple manufacturing locations to improve safety, quality, delivery, cost, and productivity
  • Identify and prioritize improvement opportunities through data analysis, value stream mapping, and direct observation (Gemba)
  • Facilitate Kaizen events, problem-solving workshops, and root cause analyses (A3, 5 Whys, Fishbone, etc.)
  • Partner with plant leadership and functional teams (Operations, Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, Maintenance) to implement sustainable process improvements
  • Develop standard work, visual management systems, and performance metrics to support operational excellence
  • Support deployment and maturity of Lean manufacturing tools (5S, SMED, TPM, Kanban, standard work)
  • Track and report progress, benefits, and ROI of CI initiatives to leadership
  • Coach and train employees at all levels on CI principles and problem-solving techniques
  • Ensure improvements are documented, standardized, and sustained across sites
  • Serve as a change agent, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and accountability


REQUIRED SKILLS, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE
Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful job performance will be considered. Typical qualifications would be:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing environments with a strong focus on continuous improvement
  • 1+ years of lean manufacturing experience
  • Proficiency in spreadsheet and database management


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience with Lean and/or Six Sigma methodologies
  • Proven ability to lead improvement initiatives without formal authority
  • Strong analytical skills with experience using operational metrics and KPIs
  • Excellent facilitation, communication, and stakeholder project management skills
  • Willingness and ability to travel regularly to manufacturing sites
  • Experience supporting multiple manufacturing plants or geographically dispersed operations


The salary range for this position is $100,000 - $115,000 per year.
