NOTE:This hybrid position is based at our headquarters in downtown Portland, Oregon. Candidates must reside within commuting distance of the office or be willing to relocate to the Portland metropolitan area. Employees are required to work onsite Tuesdays through Thursdays each week, with remote work flexibility on Mondays and Fridays, subject to business needs. This schedule supports collaboration, connection, and team engagement while providing flexibility for focused remote work.
Position Summary:NW Natural offers a Content Program Manager position to interested applicants. Reporting to the Senior Director of Corporate Communications[WS1.1], this position will be responsible for creating effective communications to reach key stakeholders such as the general public, news media, NW Natural employees, and customers. This person will join a strategic, collaborative and team-focused department, and need to forge strong cross-departmental relationships. The following is a summary of the position specifics.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:This position will be responsible for storytelling across a broad set of channels:
- Managing editor duties for story and information content showcased on the company's intranet and website.
- Writing strong, clear communications to reach internal and external audiences.
- Developing strategy and content for the company's social media accounts.
- Directing design, photography and video production projects as part of the storytelling process.
- Managing relationships with internal clients, including department heads and company officers.
- Building strong relationships with the company's subject matter experts, industry associations and other agencies supporting this work.
Serving as a Public Information Officer, this position will also be responsible for:
- Responding to reporter requests.
- Handling media pager duty on a rotating weekly and weekend basis. Serve as PIO on incidents as needed.
- Serving on the company's Incident Command Team on a rotation basis. Complete FEMA PIO training and participate in company table-top exercises.
Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree in Journalism, English, Public Relations, Communications or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- A minimum of 8+ years of experience in a corporate communications environment or public relations agency.
- Proven experience with corporate reputation management and stakeholder engagement.
- Proven ability to work on a highly collaborative, service-oriented team environment, and coordinate responsibilities openly with others within the organization.
- Experience in issues management, media relations, crisis communications required.
- Proven ability to gain trust quickly and to maintain confidentiality and credibility within the company and when dealing with the media.
- Experience in the energy sector and public policymaking a plus.
- Proven experience working with digital media and online community engagement.
- Excellent writing and presentation skills.
- Experience in planning and implementing communications plans and projects; track record of meeting deadlines; ability to juggle multiple topics and projects at once; and increasing responsibility.
- Must be self-directed, team-focused, and results-oriented.
- Experience in the Incident Command System, or willingness to be trained/certified.

Base salary range: $110,250.00 - $157,100.00 per year, depending on qualifications
Annual Target Incentive: Grade 22, 12.0% target
Targets are calculated using eligible earnings during plan year participation. Payout, if earned, is based on company and individual performance for each plan year and may range from 0% - 200% of target. Targets are subject to change in subsequent plan years. Must be employed by September 30 in order to receive any prorated payout.
