About the roleGrow's mission is to help people live fuller, healthier lives by making mental health care easier to access, sustain, and benefit from. Content is a core part of how we earn trust with the patients, providers, and businesses we serve. We're looking for a Content Manager to own end-to-end content production: managing a distributed team of writers, driving a high-volume content roadmap, and building the AI-assisted workflows that let a lean team punch well above its weight.
This is a hands-on role. You'll review and edit content daily, run the production pipeline, and be accountable for quality and throughput. You'll also be a key operator in how we integrate AI into editorial - not as a novelty, but as a core part of how work gets done.
We're not looking for someone who waits to be assigned work. This person spots gaps, flags risks before they become fires, and moves multiple projects toward done without needing a check-in to do it.
What you'll do- Own the editorial pipeline end to end: Brief to publish. Manage assignments across consumer and provider content, track progress, hit deadlines, and maintain a clean production queue - across many pieces in flight at once, without anything going stale waiting on you.
- Write at a high level yourself: You're not just editing others' drafts - you can write a strong piece from scratch when needed, and your own writing sets the bar everyone else is edited against.
- Manage a team of freelance writers and clinical reviewers: Onboard new writers, give clear and actionable feedback, assess quality, and make fast decisions about who stays and who doesn't.
- Review and edit all content: Catch factual gaps, weak structure, AI flatness, and brand voice drift at every stage of the pipeline - before clinical review and again before publishing.
- Own content optimization as an ongoing practice: Manage a rolling content audit, refreshing and updating articles on a regular cadence to maintain accuracy, relevancy, and search performance.
- Optimize for organic and AI-driven discovery: Keyword intent, People Also Ask coverage, and structured content that performs in both traditional search and LLM-generated answers (ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity). You understand how content gets cited and surfaced, not just ranked - and what makes Grow's content distinctive rather than generic.
What we're looking for- 5+ years of editorial experience, with at least some of that in a production management or editorial coordination capacity - you've managed writers and owned a content calendar before.
- Strong writing craft, not just editing instincts. You can tell the difference between a piece that's accurate and a piece that's good, you can write that "good" piece yourself, and you know how to close the gap quickly when a draft isn't there yet.
- Hands-on experience with AI writing tools - Claude, ChatGPT, AirOps, or similar. You've used these in real workflows, not just experimented. You know what makes AI output usable and what makes it need a full rewrite.
- Real fluency in SEO and LLM/answer-engine dynamics: Keyword intent, PAA mining, content structure, metadata, and what actually drives organic and AI-surfaced visibility vs. what's just outdated conventional wisdom.
- A demonstrated bias toward action. In past roles, you've identified problems or opportunities nobody assigned you and driven them to completion - you don't wait to be told what to work on next.
- High standards and low tolerance for vague feedback. You give writers specific, actionable notes and you hold the line on quality even when the queue is full.
- Organized and self-directed. You can run multiple content projects in parallel, track your own open loops, chase down blockers (clinical reviewers, SMEs, legal), and flag problems early rather than late.
- Excellent written communication. Your edits and briefs are clear enough that writers don't have to ask follow-up questions.
Nice to have- Experience in health, wellness, or a regulated content category where accuracy and clinical credibility matter.
- Hands-on experience with Content Harmony, Hemingway, or similar content optimization tools.
- Experience building or refining AI prompt systems or content workflows - not just using AI tools but shaping how a team uses them.
- Background in SEO content strategy, not just execution.
