Do you have your finger on the pulse of the vast, fast paced, and ever-changing deal environment? Have a passion for current trends in accounting and finance? As an Analyst in the M&A group at Deloitte, you'll be part of a national team that is the recognized marketplace leader among large professional services firms in providing merger, acquisition, and divestiture services to corporate strategic buyers and private equity investors. You will have the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience working alongside leading accounting and finance leaders in addressing the full range of deal execution issues, including due diligence and accounting structuring, merger integration, and post transaction considerations. Our multi-disciplinary approach combines M&A, industry, and other function specialists to provide fact-based answers and objective feedback geared to minimizing risk and increasing returns.

M&A Analyst - Analytics

As an M&A Analytics Analyst, you'll help clients and deal teams translate key finance, accounting, and operational questions into data-driven insights across the transaction lifecycle. You'll assist on projects from buy-side diligence through performance improvement and post-close integrations. You'll work alongside experienced practitioners to build analyses, dashboards, and repeatable workflows that surface key value drivers and support confident business decisions.

Specific areas of work could include:
  • Work with key stakeholders (FP&A, Controllership, Strategic Finance, Private Equity teams, etc.) to gather, organize, and prepare data from relevant systems and sources
  • Leverage data manipulation (e.g. Alteryx, SQL, Python), visualization (Tableau, PowerBI), and reporting (Excel, Powerpoint) tools to address key questions
  • Leverage accounting/financial knowledge to assess business implications of analytic results
  • Synthesize key takeaways, communicate actionable insights, and present findings in reports
  • Support innovation efforts leveraging new technology to create analyses, dashboards, and workstreams that enhance Deloitte's ability to serve clients
M&A Analyst - Business (FDD)

As an M&A Business Analyst, you will leverage your accounting experience to research and work with M&A teams on a broad spectrum of financial analyses and technical accounting matters including complex issues in accounting for business combinations, consolidations, share-based compensation, revenue recognition, leases, intangibles, and financial instruments. In addition, you will have the opportunity to directly deliver highly valued service to clients through working on a diverse array of M&A engagements.

Specific work areas could include:
  • Demonstrate an ability to identify and evaluate business, industry, financial, and accounting-related risks in connection with the transaction
  • Assist in identifying potential "deal breakers", including industry, country, and deal-specific risks and opportunities
  • Evaluate a company's historical and projected earnings and cash flows; hidden contingencies, commitments, and exposures; as well as quality of assets and internal control structure
  • Review and comment on financial and accounting considerations in investment models, bank finance agreements, and public debt offering documents
  • Assist in structuring purchase price adjustment mechanisms and other relevant accounting and financial considerations in purchase agreements
  • Identify integration and post-transaction transition issues
  • Assist with divestiture strategy, planning, and execution

Required Qualifications

  • You mustresidewithin a commutable distance of your assigned office with the ability to commute daily, ifrequired.You can expect to co-locate on average30% - 50%of theweek with variations based on types of work/projects and client locations
  • Ability to travel up to 50%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future
  • Candidates must be at least 18 years of age at time of employment
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3.2 cumulative GPA preferred
  • Familiarity with analytics tools and programming languages including, but not limited to:
    • Data Visualization Tools: Tableau, Power BI, QlikView
    • Data Management: Alteryx, Python, SQL
  • Meet minimal educational requirements for CPA licensure (which may differ from the educational requirements to sit for the CPA exam) in the state of your assigned office location prior to beginning full-time employment
  • Relevant work experience or work experience in a professional environment
  • Demonstrated recent leadership, such as campus clubs, society, sports, or other activity
  • Demonstrated recent social impact or volunteer activity

At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate is $85,000.
