As an Annuity Consultant, FinTech, the role serves as Nationwide’s subject-matter expert for the Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) and advisory technology ecosystem and as a connector among business leaders, wholesalers, advisors, RIAs, custodians, fintech platforms, outsourced insurance desks, and technology partners.

The role evaluates market and competitor capabilities, translates advisor and business needs into secure, scalable technology solutions, and guides partner relationships through implementation, testing, adoption, and continuous improvement. By connecting platform capabilities—including CRM, financial planning, proposal, account-opening, data, and integration tools—to business and compliance requirements, the Consultant expands fintech distribution, improves advisor and partner experience, and strengthens wholesaler effectiveness.

  • Solid understanding of the RIA ecosystem, advisor business models, distribution practices, and financial services products, including RIAs, advisory, custodians, broker-dealers, outsourced insurance desks (OIDs), and fintech platforms.

  • Knowledge of advisor technologies, workflows, and integrations, including CRM, financial planning, portfolio reporting, proposal generation, fee billing, document workflow, data feeds, and platform integration technologies.

  • Understanding of emerging technologies, industry trends, and developments impacting the wealth management, advisory, and fintech marketplaces.

  • Experience partnering with business, technology, and external partners to understand business needs, define solutions, support technology-enabled initiatives, and optimize partner capabilities.

  • Strong ability to communicate, present, and translate business information and technical concepts, effectively engage stakeholders and partners.

  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships, lead cross-functional work, manage ambiguity, solve problems, influence outcomes, and deliver results.

As a Consultant, youll manage and improve partnerships with focused Financial Technology (FinTech) platform partners to further maximize sales solutioning and positioning opportunities for the annuity distribution teams.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Builds, documents and produces partner overviews, education and partner specific trainings that are partnered with existing product sales materials to improve advisor focused sales and distribution tactics.

  • Assists in building and leading the management of the FinTech database used internally for informational access to FinTech partner overviews and capabilities. Acts as a subject matter authority in FinTech platform partners to provide information to teams selling Nationwide products across all of Annuity. Assists wholesalers and firms with utilizing FinTech solution partners to supplement and improve the sales process.

  • Partners with Senior Consultant to onboard, handle and enhance relationships with FinTech partners. Assists in the design, implementation and execution of business plans.

  • Manages relationships with key partner associates for focused firms, seeking opportunities to work together on trainings, education and elevated capabilities that will enhance sales and distribution.

  • Partners internally to build educational and overview materials. Attends and presents at selected internal/external engagements to further partner opportunities, educate sales teams or financial professional-facing presentations.

  • Partners with Senior Consultant and leadership to build reporting and manage expectations in alignment with the FinTech Platform Strategy.

May perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Reporting Relationships: Reports to Senior Consultant or Director.

Typical Skills and Experiences:


Education: Undergraduate degree in business administration or related field preferred.

License/Certification/Designation: FINRA Series 6/7, Series 63/66, life and health insurance required. Advanced designation (CFP, CLU, ChFC) preferred.

Experience: Five years of sales or business development experience, preferably in the insurance or financial services industry.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Solid understanding of sales and business development practices and FinTech platforms. Knowledge of insurance and/or financial services products. Strong ability to communicate. Strong ability to understand and analyze business information needs, analyze data requests, and form relationships. Expert presentation and leadership skills. Comfort in the presence of executive leadership. Competencies include customer focus, interpersonal savvy, relationship building, drive for results, optimism, dealing with ambiguity, listening, patience, problem solving, directing others and sales.

Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.

Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the hiring managers leader and HR Business Partner.

Nationwide pays on a geographic-specific salary structure and placement within the actual starting salary range for this position will be determined by a number of factors including the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; the scope, complexity and location of the role as well as the cost of labor in the market; and other conditions of employment. If a Sales job, Sales Incentives, based on performance goals are possible in addition to this range. Note on Compensation for Part-Time Roles: Please be aware that the salary ranges listed below reflect full-time compensation. Actual compensation may be prorated based on the number of hours worked relative to a full-time schedule.
