Overview

Who we're looking for

Toyota's Customs and Trade Compliance Department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Consultant - Customs and Trade Compliance.

The primary responsibility of this role is to coordinate export technology determination and import classification coordination for all major research, development, collaboration, and manufacturing projects.

Reporting to the Trade Research Sr. Manager, the person in this role will support the Customs and Trade Compliance department's objective to ensure that the necessary trade research is conducted to properly classify our projects and products allowing for compliance with government regulations.

What you'll be doing
  • Lead Connected Vehicle Preparation and Coordination while ensuring compliance and timely completion of Declarations of Conformity, Specific Authorizations, and Govt Communications are needed.
  • Lead Trade Research project management for New Model Preparation. Knowledge of HTS Classification.
  • Coordinate and Kaizen Annual Export Control Technology Review. Update Process to be aligned with the company as we shift into new technologies. Knowledge of ECCN, ITAR Classification.
  • Monitor changing import and export regulations related to Trade Research and Trade in general.
  • Support Trade Research Systems including internal department tools for Global Trade Management (GTM), external company facing interfaces, and research tools to obtain necessary technical information.
  • Drive process kaizen to improve our efficiency to meet import and export compliance requirements more effectively and efficiently.


What you bring
  • Subject matter expertise in federal regulations for Connected Vehicle, Import, Export, and/or etc.
  • Knowledge of best-in-class internal processes to meet and/or exceed the government requirements for compliance with import and export regulations.
  • Demonstrated leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills necessary to work with all levels of internal and external stakeholders and government agencies
  • 5 years industry specific experience or 3+ years Toyota experience
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects and meet deliverables timely and accurately
  • Strong proficiency in MS Excel
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • A bachelor's degree
