As a Vice President, Lead Software Engineer at Morgan Stanley Services Group, Inc. in Alpharetta, you will drive the technical execution of critical business solutions.
What you'll do in the role:
- End-to-End Development: Lead the design, coding, testing, debugging, documentation, and support of software applications in strict accordance with business requirements and established specifications.
- Technical Leadership: Manage multiple concurrent software development projects from conception through deployment, utilizing innovative approaches to solve complex technical challenges.
- Advanced Architecture: Apply Object-Oriented Analysis and Design (OOAD) principles and advanced technical concepts to build new applications and modernize existing ones.
- Integration & Quality Assurance: Seamlessly integrate solutions with dependent modules. Write clean code, perform rigorous unit and integration testing, participate in load testing, and troubleshoot production issues to ensure system stability.
What you'll bring to the role:
Education & Professional Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Experience: 15+ years of software engineering experience, OR 15+ years in a senior leadership capacity (e.g., Technology Manager, Senior Manager, Senior Consultant).
- Industry Knowledge: Strong background working within the Banking and Financial domain.
Core Technical Skills (15+ Years Preferred)
- Backend & Frameworks: Mastery of Java, J2EE, server-side and concurrent/multi-threaded programming, alongside the Spring ecosystem (Spring Boot, Core Spring).
- Architecture & Microservices: Deep understanding of application/system architecture, microservices, and message-based architectures (Kafka, IBM MQ).
- APIs & Database: Proven ability to develop REST/SOAP web services and design solutions using relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL.
- Cloud & Containerization: Hands-on experience with AWS, Private Cloud technologies, Docker, and Kubernetes.
- Security: Solid understanding of modern authentication protocols, including OAuth2.
DevOps, AI & Workflow Tooling
- AI-Augmented Engineering: Active utilization of AI tooling (Claude, Amp) to accelerate the SDLC. We are looking for engineers who evolve their workflows with AI while maintaining rigorous technical judgment and oversight over what ships.
- Agile & CI/CD: End-to-end SDLC expertise within Agile/DevOps environments. Proficiency in Jira, implementing CI/CD pipelines, and executing test automation (JUnit).
- Version Control: Advanced use of Git, Bitbucket, and SVN, including deep knowledge of branching models, workflows, and complex merge/conflict resolution.
- System Environments: Strong background in Unix/Linux environments (including shell scripting), batch job development, and utilizing client-side debugging tools across multiple browsers (Chrome, Edge).
Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $125,000 and $175,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
