Consultant, Commodity Management - AI Server

Commodity Management within the PowerEdge Supply Chain Team (WWP) develops and implements plans to support forecasted needs for suppliers and commodities. We use our in-depth knowledge of foreign and domestic markets to negotiate supplier agreements and contracts with optimum pricing and terms. We also harness our understanding of commodity qualities, transportation options, risk management and supply chain evaluation models to develop optimal commodity management strategies - with a focus on enabling Dell's AI Server portfolio growth.

What you'll achieve:

As a Commodity ManagementConsultant, you will own the commodity management strategy for AI Server components leading sourcing activities, supplier performance management, cost optimization, and supply assurance in one of Dell's fastest-growing and most strategic segments. You will partner across Engineering, Supply Chain, and suppliers to ensure the right components are secured at the right cost, quality, and time to power next-generation AI infrastructure.

Responsibilities

You will:
  • Own and execute sourcing strategies for AI Server commodities, leading RFx processes, negotiation planning, supplier selection, and long-term agreement execution to ensure cost competitiveness and supply continuity in an allocation-constrained market.
  • Drive total cost of ownership (TCO) optimization, conducting should-cost analyses, cost-reduction initiatives, and value engineering efforts in partnership with Engineering, Suppliers, and cross-functional stakeholders to improve margin and competitiveness.
  • Manage strategic supplier relationships and performance, tracking scorecards, leading business reviews, and driving capacity planning to ensure suppliers meet quality, delivery, and technology requirements for AI Server platforms.
  • Ensure supply risk mitigation and business continuity, developing dual/multi-source strategies, demand-supply balancing plans, and market intelligence assessments to protect AI Server production across global sites.
  • Enable technology roadmap alignment, partnering with Engineering and Product teams to evaluate emerging AI components (e.g., accelerators, HBM, advanced cooling, high-power delivery) and influence supplier innovation investment.

Essential Requirements
  • 12+ years of experience in Commodity Management, Strategic Sourcing, or Procurement within hardware, semiconductor, or server/data center environments.
  • Proven track record in supplier negotiations, contract management, and cost optimization for high-complexity components in dynamic, supply-constrained markets.
  • Strong knowledge of server architectures and associated commodity landscapes, with the ability to interpret market trends, allocation dynamics, and technology roadmaps to inform sourcing decisions.
  • Excellent analytical mindset and data-driven decision-making, with proficiency in collaboration and sourcing tools to track performance metrics and deliver actionable recommendations.
  • Strong written communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to coordinate across Engineering, Supply Chain, Finance, and supplier partners in a global matrixed organization.


Desirable Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain, Engineering, Business, or related field - with experience in supplier scorecards, audits, or performance management frameworks.
  • Direct experience managing commodities for AI/GPU server platforms (e.g., NVIDIA, AMD ecosystem) or high-performance computing infrastructure.

Compensation
Dell is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The salary range for this position in Texas is USD 136,850- USD 177,100
