Qualifications

Full Job Description
Our Substations group is currently looking to add Construction Supervisors / Foremen, to support Battery Energy Storage System Construction projects in the Elora and Jarvis areas on Ontario.

Reporting to the Site Supervisor, these positions will oversee on-site construction activities and lead on-site crew while ensuring project construction is executed effectively and safely. They are also responsible for tracking any changes or field issues as they arise and will be the main point of contact for the Field staff/crew.

Please Note: The current work schedule is Monday - Friday; 10 hours / day with the potential for more OT. These projects are for unionized worksites and successful candidates must be members (or willing to join) the Canadian Union of Skilled Workers (CUSW).

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage all site activities and crew members (up to 5-20 people)
  • Ensure compliance with Valard's Safety Policies and Procedures
  • Complete daily paperwork relating to jobsite, including timesheets, field reports, etc.
  • Conduct equipment reviews and coordinate scheduling of equipment on site
  • Coach and mentor crew members to develop technical skills and reinforce Valard's safety policies and procedures
  • Ensure compliance with project procedures as well as safety program requirements and construction quality practices
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere within the group as well as Client relations when interacting with the Client
  • Address any crew issues / conflicts with Site Supervisor as they arise
  • Work with on-site Safety Advisor to address any safety concerns brought forth by crews and or Client
  • Manage material deliveries and inventory as materials are received on site, identifying any potential risks
  • Ensure that the crews are following the Valard Quality Management Plan and that the work is being completed efficiently and effectively
  • Ensure that all Valard's Equipment and tools are being used in a safe and professional manner (tools are accounted for daily, any defective tools and equipment are tagged out of service and replaced and or repaired prior to using again)
  • Work with Site Supervisor to understand the full scope of the project to identify changes that could directly impact cost and schedule

Requirements
  • Journeyperson designation in a related trade (Power System Electrician / Construction Electrician)
  • 5 years of experience in the construction industry
  • Knowledge of various construction disciplines, safety regulations, project scheduling, cost and quality control
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
  • Experience with medium and high voltage electrical installation and termination
  • Previous experience as a Supervisor / Foreman

Preferred Skills / Qualifications
  • Experience with Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) Construction


Benefits

These positions offers an hourly rate of $64.97/hr, depending on experience and qualifications.
