Overview

To manage and execute capital construction, facility improvement, and infrastructure projects within an active manufacturing environment by overseeing day-to-day construction activities, coordinating contractors and project stakeholders, and ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with company and regulatory requirements.

 

Qualifications

Education, Certifications and Experience• Required:• Associate's degree in construction management, Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related technical discipline (Mechanical, Electrical, Controls, Industrial, or similar); equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.• Minimum of five (5) years of experience managing construction, installation, and startup activities for industrial, manufacturing, pharmaceutical, chemical, or engineering projects.• Demonstrated experience coordinating contractors, managing project schedules, and overseeing construction execution from project planning through commissioning and startup.• Working knowledge of industrial construction practices, safety regulations, engineering drawings, specifications, and project documentation.• Preferred:• Experience within an active manufacturing, pharmaceutical, food production, or chemical processing environment.• OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification or equivalent safety training.• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or related project management credentials.• Experience managing capital projects, facility expansions, equipment installations, and infrastructure improvements.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with operations personnel, engineers, contractors, vendors, regulatory agencies, and project stakeholders.• Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, P&IDs, single-line diagrams, construction plans, project specifications, and engineering documents.• Ability to interpret and coordinate multiple construction disciplines, including civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, piping, electrical, and controls systems.• Proficient computer skills with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and project management software such as Microsoft Project or similar scheduling platforms.• Thorough knowledge of applicable construction safety regulations, building codes, and industry standards, including OSHA, NFPA, and environmental compliance requirements.• Ability to work effectively with internal engineering teams and external engineering firms to develop, review, and implement facility, process, and infrastructure improvements.• Working knowledge of industrial manufacturing systems and construction practices across multiple disciplines, including mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, controls, and facility systems.• Strong leadership and contractor management skills with the ability to coordinate multiple work groups and drive project execution.• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex construction and project-related issues and implement effective solutions.• Strong organizational and project management skills, including the ability to manage schedules, budgets, resources, risks, and competing priorities.• Strong understanding of construction safety programs and safe work practices.• Knowledge of Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), hot work permitting, line break procedures, confined space entry, and other industrial safety requirements.• Ability to manage construction activities in an active manufacturing environment while minimizing operational disruptions.• OSHA 10-hour or OSHA 30-hour Construction certification preferred.• Ability to develop and maintain project schedules, monitor milestones, and drive project completion.• Experience managing project budgets, contract administration, and change order processes.• Ability to evaluate contractor performance and ensure compliance with project scope, safety requirements, and quality standards.• Strong decision-making and conflict resolution skills.• Ability to lead project meetings and provide clear project status reporting to leadership.

 

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements

Working Conditions• Fast paced bio-chemical/pharmaceutical manufacturing environment working both in office and plant settings. • May work in areas containing hazardous elements and thus will need to follow all safety requirements and policies. • Work must be performed in a safe manner for self and others.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with engineering, operations, maintenance, EHS, quality, and other stakeholders to develop construction and execution plans for facility, infrastructure, and capital projects involving building, process, piping, electrical, controls, and utility systems• Oversee daily construction activities for assigned projects, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant execution of work by contractors, vendors, and internal resources• Manage project execution by monitoring schedules, work progress, resource requirements, and contractor performance to achieve project objectives• Ensure all construction activities are performed in accordance with company policies, site procedures, OSHA regulations, permit requirements, engineering standards, and applicable codes• Review and interpret construction drawings, specifications, scopes of work, schedules, and project documentation to support accurate field execution• Coordinate with engineering, maintenance, operations, EHS, quality, and project teams to resolve field issues, mitigate risks, and minimize operational disruptions• Develop bid and quote packages, conduct contractor walkdowns, participate in contractor selection activities, and facilitate scope reviews for construction projects• Lead construction coordination meetings, contractor safety meetings, and daily work planning discussions• Monitor and inspect work in progress to ensure compliance with project requirements, quality standards, and approved specifications• Develop and maintain construction schedules, daily reports, punch lists, action item logs, and project documentation• Track and communicate project status, risks, delays, resource constraints, budget impacts, and scope changes to project stakeholders and management• Support project commissioning, startup, turnover, and closeout activities to ensure successful project completion and operational readiness• Identify opportunities to improve construction execution, contractor performance, project delivery, and safety outcomes• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned

 

Salary Range$79,000-$101,000
