Job Description

The EHS Manager - Construction Safety is responsible for leading environmental, health, and safety (EHS) programs across large-scale construction and mission-critical infrastructure projects. This role provides leadership and oversight for safety strategy, regulatory compliance, and risk mitigation while partnering with project leadership, contractors, and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure safe and compliant operations.

This position plays a key role in driving a proactive safety culture through program development, field engagement, and continuous improvement initiatives. The EHS Manager oversees site safety professionals and supports the execution of safety programs across multiple projects, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and company safety standards.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of construction safety programs across active project sites.
  • Provide leadership and oversight to site safety professionals, ensuring consistent execution of safety policies and procedures.
  • Partner with project leadership, contractors, and field teams to integrate safety planning into construction activities and project execution.
  • Conduct safety audits, site assessments, and program evaluations to identify risks and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and all applicable federal, state, and local safety regulations.
  • Lead incident investigations, root-cause analyses, and corrective action planning to prevent recurrence.
  • Develop and deliver safety training programs, orientations, and leadership coaching for field personnel and contractors.
  • Support the development and execution of Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), risk assessments, and mitigation strategies.
  • Establish and monitor key safety performance metrics and provide reporting and insights to leadership.
  • Serve as the primary safety liaison with internal stakeholders, contractors, and project leadership teams.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and proactive hazard identification across construction operations.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Construction Management, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 8-10 years of construction safety experience, including 3+ years in a leadership or supervisory capacity.
  • Demonstrated experience managing safety programs within complex construction environments.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to influence safety culture and drive compliance across cross-functional teams.

Certifications
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification required.
  • STS-C (Safety Trained Supervisor - Construction) or CHST (Construction Health and Safety Technician) certification required or obtained within 90 days of hire.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Additional professional certifications such as CSP (Certified Safety Professional) or related credentials.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting data center or mission-critical construction environments.
  • Experience working with union labor environments.
  • Experience supporting large-scale infrastructure or industrial construction projects.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to walk and stand for extended periods on active construction sites.
  • Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor environments.
  • Ability to lift and carry safety equipment weighing up to 30 pounds.
  • Ability to safely navigate construction environments including uneven surfaces and elevated work areas.

Travel
  • 35-50% US and Global

The anticipated salary range for this role in the Ohio locality is between $105,884 to $158,826 per year-salary ranges for other geographic localities may vary. Certain roles are eligible for additional rewards, including merit increases, annual bonus and stock. These awards are allocated based on individual performance and are role based. In addition, certain roles also have the opportunity to receive and/or participate in profit sharing, allowances, travel and/or car expenses, and earn sales incentives based on revenue or utilization depending on the terms of the employee's role and individual offer details. The role is eligible to participate in a comprehensive and competitive benefits program, including medical, dental, vision, disability, PTO, holiday pay, and 401k.
