We are seeking experienced
Safety Managers to support construction projects throughout the Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD).
Key Responsibilities:- Conduct daily construction site safety inspections and document observations.
- Monitor compliance with OSHA regulations, project safety requirements, and established safety procedures.
- Review contractor safety documentation, including JHAs, MOPs, Fall Protection Plans, Crane Lift Plans, Excavation Plans, Scaffold Erection Plans, and Confined Space Entry procedures.
- Participate in construction meetings and lead safety discussions regarding site observations and upcoming work activities.
- Prepare daily safety reports and weekly Health, Safety & Environmental Observation Reports.
- Review incident reports, participate in safety stand-downs, and assist with lessons-learned reporting.
- Monitor compliance with Owner Controlled Insurance Program (OCIP) requirements.
- Support the Program Safety Manager with safety reporting, analysis, meetings, and other program needs.
- Work collaboratively with project management, contractor management, and field construction teams across multiple project sites.
RequirementsCandidates must have:
- 7+ years of U.S. commercial construction experience with a General Contractor
- 5+ years of California construction experience with a contractor or major subcontractor
- 2+ years of construction experience on educational projects in a campus environment
- Experience managing or overseeing field construction teams across multiple projects
- Experience with demolition, renovation, and new construction projects
- Experience working with OCIP programs
- Experience with safety incident reporting and daily construction reporting
- Experience with modernization/renovation projects involving hazardous-material abatement or remediation, including asbestos and lead-based paint
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to travel between multiple project sites throughout the greater Los Angeles area
Required CertificationsCandidates must hold a
current and active:
- SMS (Safety Management Specialist), CHST (Construction Health and Safety Technician), OR CSMC (Certified Safety Manager Construction)
- First Aid/CPR/AED Certification
Copies of current certifications will be required as part of the submission process.
Preferred Qualifications- Degree in Construction Management, Safety Management, Safety Engineering, or a related field
- 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification
- OSHA 500 certification
- Additional construction safety and health certifications
