Construction Operations Manager - Orange County / Los Angeles, CA

General Description:

The Operations Manager role supports Erickson-Hall Construction Co. by overseeing the entire construction process from planning to execution. This involves developing and maintaining long-lasting relationships with various stakeholders including; architects, engineers, contractors, and suppliers. The Operations Manager serves as a link between field teams, office staff, clients, and vendors to drive execution from planning through completion.

Essential Duties:
  • Oversee multiple projects within a region to ensure projects are safely delivered on time, within budget, and aligned with project quality requirements.
  • Manage resource allocation within region including staff, selection of subcontractors, and other resources required for project team success.
  • Lead monthly project health check-ins to monitor construction schedules, financial forecasting, project status reports, and subcontractor activities to maintain project performance requirements.
  • Collaborate with estimating, purchasing, and design teams to ensure smooth transitions from preconstruction to field operations.
  • Promote and enforce safety programs, trainings, and policies, as well as promote and address safety in the performance of project team members and subcontractors.
  • Promote and support administration of Quality Assurance/ Quality Control program and standards with project team, subcontractors, and inspectors.
  • Serve as a key liaison between field operations and upper management, providing regular updates on performance metrics and progress.
  • Develop high-performance teams through supervision, training, mentoring, and coaching Project Executives, Project Managers, Superintendents, and field staff to maximize performance and professional growth.
  • Propose, prioritize, and implement operational process and policy improvements as part of the corporate Operations team.
  • Analyze workflows of multiple projects and propose optimizing strategies.
  • Proactively identify potential project, staffing, or financial risks and develop solutions.
  • Provide direction with Project Executives in assigned region(s).
  • Other duties as assigned.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 10 - 15 years of progressive experience in construction operations or related fields.
  • Proven leadership experience managing teams of Project Managers, Superintendents, and subcontractors.
  • Strong skills in influencing, collaboration, and generating buy-in.
  • Thorough knowledge of construction estimating techniques and quality inspection processes is highly desirable. Strong working knowledge of construction methods, materials, equipment, and best practices.
  • Excellent project management skills including scheduling, budgeting, and client communication.
  • Ability to assess job costs, analyze reports, and identify financial risks and opportunities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a proven ability to lead cross-functional teams.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally as needed.
