Step into Your New Role
Kleinfelder is seeking an experienced and dynamic Professional Engineer (PE) and senior leader to oversee and grow our Oklahoma Construction Materials Engineering and Testing (CoMET) business unit located in Tulsa and Oklahoma City. This role is responsible for full business unit leadership, including operations, staff management, financial performance, and strategic growth across Oklahoma. The successful candidate will be a seller-doer who drives business development, builds strong client relationships, and ensures the delivery of high-quality services across a diverse portfolio of projects. This leader will oversee project managers, inspectors, and laboratory personnel while ensuring alignment with Kleinfelder’s mission, vision, values, and expectations for safety, quality, profitability, and client service.
Key Responsibilities
Business Unit Leadership & Strategy
- Develop and execute the Oklahoma CoMET business plan, including growth, profitability, and market expansion
- Manage full P&L responsibility, including forecasting, budgeting, and financial performance
- Identify market trends and position Kleinfelder to capture new opportunities
- Collaborate with regional and corporate leadership on strategic initiatives
Business Development (Seller-Doer)
- Drive revenue growth through active business development and client engagement
- Develop and expand relationships with key clients, municipalities, and agencies across Oklahoma
- Lead pursuit strategies, proposals, and fee development
- Increase Kleinfelder’s visibility and brand presence in the local market
Operations & Project Delivery Oversight
- Oversee all phases of project delivery across a portfolio of commercial, industrial, transportation, and public works projects
- Ensure consistent execution aligned with quality, risk management, safety, and profitability goals
- Provide technical leadership and guidance on complex CoMET programs
- Ensure effective use of project management processes, staffing strategies, and resource planning
Team Leadership & Development
- Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing team of project managers, engineers, technicians, and lab staff
- Establish clear performance expectations and accountability for results
- Support professional development, coaching, and succession planning
- Foster a collaborative, safety-focused, and high-performance culture
Technical & Quality Leadership
- Provide senior-level technical oversight of materials testing, inspection, and laboratory operations
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements
- Support innovation and continuous improvement in service delivery
Experience
- 8-9 years of construction services experience with a strong emphasis on CoMET services
- 5-6 years of project management experience, including managing complex programs and client relationships
- 3-4 years of leadership/people management experience
- Proven track record of business development and revenue growth
- Experience managing or overseeing materials and soils laboratory operations required
- Strong knowledge of construction materials testing, field inspection practices, and applicable regulations
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Materials Engineering, Construction Management, or related field required
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required (Oklahoma or ability to obtain quickly)
