Job DescriptionThe Construction Manager provides onsite leadership, coordination, and direction for construction management activities. Duties include field oversight and coordination of safety, quality, observation and reporting of contractor performance, operational impacts, turnover and closeout. May supervise field administrative staff, Field/Project Engineers and/or assistant Construction Managers. This position will support construction in the Aviation Sector.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:- Support constructability, phasing, site-logistics and preconstruction reviews.
- Provide regular field oversight and document progress, constraints and deficiencies.
- Coordinate contractor activities affecting cargo and airport operations.
- Monitor contractor safety compliance, security requirements and controlled access.
- Review short-term schedules, sequencing, staffing and recovery plans.
- Monitor workmanship, inspections, testing, quality control and corrective work.
- Track RFIs, submittals, field conditions and record-document requirements.
- Review proposed changes and validate field scope, quantities and schedule effects.
- Coordinate shutdowns, tie-ins, commissioning and operational turnover.
- Manage punch-list completion, closeout documentation and final acceptance.
Minimum Qualifications:- Bachelor of Science degree in Architecture, Construction Management or Engineering preferred. 4-year degree required.
- 5+ years of Construction Management experience (not general contracting), on projects with a value of $15M-$150M.
- Construction contract administration experience.
- Knowledge of construction contracts, drawings, estimates, and specifications to ensure relation and compliance to construction/project requirements.
- Must be able to demonstrate extensive experience in coordinating and managing user groups and/or stakeholders.
- Knowledge of database project controls software systems such as Procore, eBuilder, Project Team or similar.
- Construction-management experience on complex commercial, industrial or aviation projects.
- Field-leadership experience within an active-airport environment.
- Strong knowledge of safety, quality, schedule and construction-document controls.
- Ability to independently manage contractors and assigned workstreams.
- Availability for full-time, on-site work at SFO.
