What you will do

The Fire Alarm Construction Manager is part of our Building Technologies & Solutions business with Johnson Controls. This position is integral to our Fire business, serving over one million customers in the United States with a comprehensive array of fire alarm systems and services. We deliver industry-leading solutions for life safety protection in crucial environments, including schools, universities, hospitals, commercial properties, industrial buildings, and government facilities.

The Fire Alarm Construction Manager is responsible for managing daily operations of our construction installation projects for customers. Duties include coaching and mentoring technicians, ordering materials and equipment, and monitoring financials for each project. This role requires spending 70%-80% of the time in the field visiting project sites and customers. Ideal candidates will have experience overseeing fire alarm installation projects in a fast-paced environment, knowledge of the construction industry, and an emphasis on safety. NICET certification is a plus. We seek an entrepreneurial, hands-on professional to join our growing team.

How you will do it
  • The Fire Alarm Construction Manager will demonstrate management and leadership abilities, including training, team building, job management, district administration, and effective customer interaction.
  • This position is responsible for providing vision, leadership, and direction to the installation department.
  • Set and manage productivity and performance expectations for direct reports.
  • Motivate employees and maintain a positive work environment utilizing management best practices.
  • Ensure safety and industry training is current and documented for all technicians, providing all appropriate information prior to job site arrival.
  • Maintain the schedule of installers and track hours assigned to projects.
  • Collaborate with the Operations team to complete work as needed.
  • Provide accurate project status updates during Work In Progress meetings.
  • Conduct regular job site safety walkthroughs, EHS evaluations, and accident investigations.
  • Participate in interviewing and/or evaluating employees and apprentices.
  • Proficiently develop business strategies and implement action plans to meet and exceed corporate goals and objectives.
  • Set goals and objectives for subordinates, communicate expectations, and periodically review performance.
  • Attend construction meetings and interface with end-users, architects, and general contractors.

What we look for

Required
  • 5-10 years of management experience in Fire Alarm Installation within the commercial industry.
  • Project Management experience.
  • Estimating experience.
  • Knowledge of P&L is a plus.
  • Experience or knowledge of Excel and other Microsoft products.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficient in using personal computers, including operating systems such as Windows 7/XP/NT/2000.

Preferred
  • NICET Certification license 3 or greater.

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $76,100-104,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
