  • Degree in Construction Science, Architecture or Environmental Design, Engineering, or other related field.
  • Minimum of ten years' experience with project coordination in higher education or commercial construction.

  • Leading and directing the work of design and construction teams on the jobsite and in project meetings;
  • Navigating personnel and personality challenges on the jobsite and in project meetings;
  • Prioritizing your workload; problem solving and decision making.
  • Read and interpret contract documents, technical manuals, complex schematics, blueprints and other instructions;
  • Identify poor workmanship;
  • Prepare clear, concise, grammatically accurate documentation and correspondence;
  • Assess renovation and major maintenance project scope.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Current Sediment & Erosion Control Inspector's Certification;
  • Experience working on historical preservation projects;
  • Experience working with the Texas Historical Commission;
  • Construction trade standards, codes, regulations, and laws;
  • Building trades practices such as planning, estimating, drafting, and inspection;
  • University standards and construction materials;
  • Designing and CADD software;
  • Engineering practices and principles and mechanical theory;
  • Electrical theory;
  • ADA and Life Safety regulations, codes, and statutes.


Job Description

Under the leadership of a Project Manager, this position is primarily responsible for field supervision of Capital construction projects and intermediate to large-scale renovations.

Job Duties

The Construction Manager III's duties include estimating, scheduling, directing of outside consultants and construction teams, and inspecting intermediate to large-scale renovation and Capital construction projects to ensure objectives are met. Additional details are as follows:

  • Assist with development of specifications for goods and services by researching vendor data and referencing applicable codes, regulations and standards.
  • Assist in developing various reports, plans, budgets, and schedules.
  • Prepare project contract documents including contract change orders and addendums.
  • Prepare plan review documents.
  • Coordinate activities of physical plant labor and resources to support projects.
  • Utilize project management software and ensure project updates are made daily/weekly.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including but not limited to full management of additional smaller to intermediate projects, which involves meeting with project requesters, interpreting requests for feasibility, and prioritizing multiple projects.
