About the Role
As a Construction Manager, you'll lead the Division's construction operations with a focus on delivering high-quality projects, exceptional customer experiences, and strong operational results. You'll develop and improve processes that increase productivity, control costs, and keep projects moving efficiently while leading teams toward shared performance and customer satisfaction goals. This role is ideal for a hands-on operational leader who enjoys developing people, solving problems, and driving continuous improvement across a fast-paced construction environment.

General Summary of Position

Responsible for developing and implementing the policies, procedures, and programs necessary to support the efficient management and operation of the Division's Construction Department, with the goals of maximizing customer satisfaction, reducing unnecessary operating costs, optimizing production, and achieving the Division's stated NPS objectives.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day construction operations under the direction of the General Manager, providing direct management and development of Project Managers and Schedulers and oversight of construction and warranty personnel to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with company standards.
• Ensure consistent execution of construction policies, processes, and quality standards including construction checklists, payment schedules, jobsite requirements, final inspections, and established construction standards; stay current on construction technologies and industry practices and facilitate technical, systems, customer service, and other relevant training for construction personnel.
• Manage construction workflow, capacity, and project performance by tracking construction phases, identifying and eliminating excess cycle time and white space, anticipating production capacity needed to meet sales demand, partnering with Design Consultants to reduce sale-to-dig time, and maintaining oversight of key builder projects and relationships to ensure adherence to project specifications.
• Monitor construction performance and drive continuous improvement by reviewing key operating metrics including CSS results, dig-to-shoot and dig-to-plaster cycle times, unit production, variance analysis, PM workloads, jobsite visits, final inspection status, money lists, and PM/Scheduler CSS results; identify performance gaps and implement corrective actions and process improvements to increase productivity, reduce cycle time and costs, improve quality, and maintain customer satisfaction.
• Manage subcontractor performance and capacity by evaluating quality and performance, addressing deficiencies and back charges, clarifying expectations, recruiting and developing new subcontractor resources, leading subcontractor meetings and price negotiations, and ensuring adequate subcontractor capacity to meet production requirements.
• Provide financial and cost oversight for construction operations by reviewing monthly division P&L results and WIP reports for accuracy, reviewing contractor invoices and cost overruns, monitoring leakage performance and root causes, analyzing construction-related losses and variances, and implementing changes to reduce leakage, losses, and unnecessary costs.
• Serve as a key escalation point and construction leader for employees, customers, and business partners by resolving customer issues that cannot be addressed by Project Managers, Schedulers, or Design Consultants; coaching and developing construction and warranty employees; strengthening proactive customer communication; supporting employee career development; and completing other projects and responsibilities in accordance with Anthony & Sylvan Pools' policies and procedures.

Directly or indirectly supervises employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training and engaging employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

QUALIFICATIONS - Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Education

Bachelor's degree required; equivalent combination of education and relevant experience considered

Licenses/Certifications

None required

Years of Experience

Minimum of 5 years of experience successfully leading and managing employees in a construction-related environment; swimming pool industry experience preferred

Proven leadership skills with the ability to mentor, coach, develop, and engage employees

Demonstrated knowledge of quality and process improvement programs and techniques

Experience developing and implementing customer service processes and programs

Strong customer service orientation with the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities

Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and financial skills, including an understanding of P&L management

Strong verbal and written communication skills with effective listening and interpersonal abilities

Self-motivated, proactive, and results-oriented with the ability to work independently with minimal direction

Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
