Full Job Description
Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Construction Manager to provide owner-side field leadership for a cargo facility relocation project at San Francisco International Airport (SFO). This role will oversee day-to-day construction activities in an active airport environment, with responsibility for contractor coordination, field progress, safety, quality, schedule performance, operational impacts, commissioning, turnover, and closeout. The successful candidate will be comfortable independently managing field workstreams, anticipating construction constraints, and coordinating work around ongoing cargo and airport operations.

Note: This opportunity is available at multiple levels. Final placement will be determined based on the selected candidate's experience, skills, and alignment with business needs. We are committed to providing fair and equitable consideration for all applicants.

Organizational Responsibilities

  • Participate in preconstruction and ongoing field planning, including constructability, phasing, site logistics, sequencing, shutdowns, tie-ins, and coordination around active cargo and airport operations.
  • Provide day-to-day oversight of contractor activities and document progress, field conditions, constraints, deficiencies, staffing, and items requiring follow-up or recovery action.
  • Monitor compliance with project safety, security, access-control, quality, inspection, testing, and corrective-action requirements.
  • Manage field documentation and facilitate resolution of RFIs, submittals, design clarifications, unforeseen conditions, and record-document requirements.
  • Review proposed field changes and assist in validating scope, installed quantities, constructability, and potential schedule impacts.
  • Coordinate commissioning, turnover, punch-list completion, closeout documentation, and final acceptance requirements.
  • Maintain effective coordination with contractors, consultants, airport stakeholders, and project team members while independently advancing assigned workstreams.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of relevant construction management experience, including oversight of complex commercial, industrial, aviation, or similar capital projects.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related technical discipline. Relevant professional experience may be considered in lieu of, or as a supplement to, the education requirement.
  • Demonstrated field leadership experience in an active airport or similarly complex operational environment, including the ability to independently oversee contractors and multiple workstreams.
  • Strong working knowledge of construction safety, quality management, scheduling, inspections/testing, document control, field change management, commissioning, and project closeout.
  • Experience coordinating operational shutdowns and phased construction.
  • Cargo, logistics, warehouse, or material-handling facility construction experience preferred.
  • Prior SFO or airline owner-representative experience preferred.
  • California Professional Engineer (PE) license, CCM, PMP, or other relevant professional certification or credential preferred.
