Your Opportunity

Stantec is seeking a construction leader, that possesses field experience in the mining sector. This person will oversee construction management activities on mining projects in the Arizona Area.

After being onboarded, this person may have the opportunity to work on more than one site, collaborating with a mining team that is providing oversight of a construction contractor/s execution.

Most of your time is expected to be on site, however occasionally you may be required to visit the Stantec offices. Qualified candidates will have relevant field experience and have worked on projects that have had above ground, below ground, and shaft, headframe and hoist house related construction activity.

This is a leadership role, including daily interaction with the client, the Stantec team, workers, the general contractors, and subcontractors. Work schedules will be project-dependent and determined closer to assignment. We are seeking candidates that reside in or near Arizona or are willing to relocate or can travel to remote site locations and the PMO offices.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • As part of the role, you will be required to support planning phases, followed by construction and commissioning and start up phases of projects; Constructability, review owner and construction contractor documents, construction execution planning, implement and manage work and construction contractor/s during the construction phase with a team of construction management personnel, the owners team, general construction contractor/s and potentially other EPCM providers.
  • Review the General Contractors' Construction Execution Plan and provide risk and opportunity input.
  • Coordinate and communicate with General Contractors and Owner teams.
  • Provide safety leadership to maintain a safe mining work environment
  • Oversee and perform day-to-day construction management efforts to ensure projects are constructed in accordance with design, budget, and schedule
  • Ensure contractor compliance with plans, specifications, and safety requirements
  • Act as the primary interface between client, contractor, oversight representatives, regulatory agencies, utility stakeholders, etc.
  • Monitor progress and delays of contractor's project schedule
  • Review daily inspection reports for completeness and accuracy, and review material test reports for compliance with specifications
  • Coordination of document control and construction records management
  • Review plans, specifications, requests for information, submittals, construction schedules, shop drawings, change orders, pay applications, and quality assurance.
  • Coordination of project outage integration plans with multiple stakeholders
  • Support Testing, Commissioning, and Start Up activities performed by others
  • Manage the post-construction phase, preparing and submitting final deliverables, reviewing final pay requests and punch lists, recommending final completion, tracking of warranties, and preparation of final invoicing

Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Experience in mining construction environments.
  • Experience with safety procedures in SIMOPs project conditions.
  • Experience in mechanical completion of work, and experience in commissioning and start up activities.
  • General experience and exposure to civil, structural, mechanical, conveyance, shaft sinking and construction, electrical, instrumentation, headframes and hoist house activities and operation.
  • Experience working as a client representative and overseeing General Contractors
  • Experience with safety procedures in a mining environment (MSHA).
  • Experience managing Quality Control, Quality Assurance, and Inspection Services
  • Experience managing contractors schedule, project controls and contractor's payment certification and release
  • Experience in supporting project testing, commissioning, and start-up activities
  • Exhibit strong communication, coordination and presentation skills

Education and Experience
  • Minimum exposure of 10 years of Construction Management Experience
  • Construction Management Certification from a US based institute. Not a prerequisite but an asset.
  • OSHA / MSHA / HASWOPER training. Not a prerequisite but an asset.
  • Fall Protection Certification. Not a prerequisite but an asset.
  • First Aid/CPR Asset. Not a prerequisite but an asset.

Location
  • Preference given to local candidates in the Arizona area.
  • Relocation and travel assistance may be applicable to highly qualified candidates not currently located in the Arizona area.
  • Open to candidates that require subsistence and travel.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Pay Range:
• Locations in CO, HI, IL, MD & Various CA, NJ Areas-$141,500.00 - $212,200.00 Annually

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.

Benefits Summary: Regular full-time and part-time employees (working at least 20 hours per week) have access to medical, dental, and vision plans, a wellness program, health saving accounts, flexible spending accounts, 401(k) plan, employee stock purchase program, life and accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D) insurance, short-term/long-term disability plans, emergency travel benefits, tuition reimbursement, professional membership fee coverage and paid family leave. Regular full-time and part-time employees will receive ten paid holidays in each calendar year. In addition, employees will be eligible to accrue vacation between 10 and 20 days per year and eligible for paid sick leave (and if more generous, in accordance with state and local law).

Temporary/casual employees have access to 401(k) plans, employee stock purchase program, and paid leave, in accordance with state and local law.
