Position Duties The Department of Transportation is currently seeking to fill multiple vacancies in the Infrastructure Maintenance division. • Construction Inspector I: $78,514.80 - $95,659.20
• Construction Inspector II: $88,866.96 - $108,217.20
• Associate Inspector: $100,332.96 - $121,954.56 This salary range(s) includes an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable compensation. Actual salary shall be determined by the final candidates' qualifications and experience.
Inspection and Contract Management Construction Inspector's key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Contract management, spending/tracking budget appropriations, and contractor coordination efforts
• Reviewing and verifying accuracy of invoices
• Preparing documents to pay contractor invoices
• Visually inspecting projects
• Validating work of contractors in the field
• Maintaining daily inspection logs and photos
• Ensuring all work is completed according to City of San Jose standards and specifications
• Coordinating new projects with Public Works inspectors and DOT's structure & Landscape Designer
• Mitigating conflicts with residents, businesses and contractors
Minimum Qualifications Construction Inspector I: Completion of high school or equivalent (General Education Development (GED) Test or California Proficiency Certificate).
Construction Inspector II:
•
Education: Completion of high school or equivalent (General Education Development (GED) Test or California Proficiency Certificate) AND
•
Experience: Two (2) years of construction trades or construction inspection experience.
Associate Construction Inspector:
•
Education: Completion of high school or equivalent (General Education Development (GED) Test or California Proficiency Certificate) AND
•
Experience: Four (4) years of construction trades or construction inspection experience, including two (2) years in any combination of the following: construction or infrastructure inspection, drafting or reviewing plans and specifications, materials sampling and testing, traffic engineering, or surveying.
•
Acceptable Substitution: Completion of an Associate Degree in engineering technology, construction management or closely related field from an accredited junior college or two (2) years of college coursework in engineering technology or related subjects courses may be substituted for two (2) years of the construction trades or construction inspection experience.
Certification/LicensesPossession of a valid State of California driver's license.

Selection Process:
