Responsibilities

  • Assist inspectors and the Resident Engineer in observing and documenting construction activity.

  • Ensure compliance with project plans, specifications, and safety standards during construction.
  • Review contractor documentation like submittals and field reports.
  • Monitor material deliveries and verify both quality and quantities.
  • Maintain project documentation through internal and client systems.
  • Promote a safe work environment in line with safety policies and procedures.
  • Use Agency/client Project Information Management System (PIMS) for report preparation.

Pay Rate: $63,883 - $133,232

Construction Inspector/Field Engineer

Delve Underground is looking for a Construction Inspector/Field Engineer in our New York office within our Construction Management Practice. The Inspector/Field Engineer will work at a project field office in the New York area primarily on water and wastewater or transit heavy civil shaft and tunnel construction projects. Travel or relocation to other areas may be required.

The successful candidate for this position should have experience in heavy civil construction projects for water and wastewater and transit infrastructure. Tunnel experience, including trenchless experience, is considered to be relevant.

This is an on-site position and may include shift work.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist inspectors, senior inspectors and Resident Engineer with observing and documenting construction activities.
  • Support the preparation of daily inspection reports, including labor, equipment, and materials tracking.
  • Observe construction work to help ensure compliance with project plans, specifications, and safety requirements.
  • Assist with reviewing contractor documentation such as submittals and field reports.
  • Monitor materials delivered to the site and support verification of quantities and quality.
  • Help maintain project documentation using internal and client systems.
  • Assist in maintaining, supporting, and promoting a safe work environment while complying with applicable safety policies and procedures.
  • Utilize Agency/client Project Information Management System (PIMS) and/or other Agency/Client electronic systems for preparing Inspection Reports.


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Mining Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • 0 - 5 years of recent experience in heavy construction, inspecting tunnels or pipelines for large and complex engineering/construction projects.
  • Preference to candidates with experience on at least one heavy civil or tunnel project including trenchless tunneling experience.
  • Knowledge of construction-related processes and industry practices.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment such as a respirator; meet physical demands of the position such as walking, standing, lifting up to 40 Lbs., climbing ladders, bending, squatting, and crawling in tight spaces to safely access work sites.
  • Knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook. Preferred knowledge of Visio, AutoCAD, and Bluebeam.
  • Excellent written, verbal communication, and organizational skills.
