Job DescriptionAECOM is seeking
Construction Engineer to be based in New York, NY.
- Under general supervision, performs routine duties and applies sound professional judgment to construction projects.
- Displays knowledge and abilities to evaluate, select and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria to meet basic engineering and construction specifications.
- Independently performs walk-downs and inspections of installed commodities to assure conformance with specifications and design.
- Performs quantity surveys for tracking and reporting project progress and material inventory.
- May provide technical direction to drafters, technicians, and surveyors on project-related tasks.
- Monitors compliance with applicable building codes, safety regulations, and contractual requirements throughout all project phases.
- Coordinates with contractors, subcontractors, and project stakeholders to ensure timely execution and resolution of construction-related issues.
- Maintains comprehensive project documentation, including daily reports, inspection records, and correspondence for regulatory and administrative purposes.
- Assists in budget tracking, cost analysis, and change order management to support project financial controls.
- Participates in site meetings and provides progress updates to project management and client representatives.
QualificationsMinimum Requirements:
- BA/BS plus two years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Excellent interpersonal communications and collaboration skills, comfortable engaging with residents in a multi-cultural environment, and with tenant and development management, elected representatives, and other stakeholders.
- 10 years of project or program management oversight experience.
- Knowledge of procedures and regulations for removing hazardous materials such as lead-based paint, mold and asbestos.
- Working knowledge of building codes, standards, and building structures.
- Experience in project scheduling, cost estimating.
