Full Job Description
Application close date:
Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis until the requisition is closed.

This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable.

As part of a hardworking team of engineers, you will facilitate configuration development and integration of New Glenn's Upper Stage and Payload Accommodations (GS2PA) for various spaceflight systems. You will share in the team's impact on all aspects of GS2PA System Design. You will integrate between sub-systems to define the best design solutions across the vehicle structural, mechanical, fluids and electrical subsystems. You will assist in configuration management and in Engineering Change Requests (ECR's). You will create and manage multiple vehicle configurations and ensure they support down stream material requirement planning. In this role, you will contribute to initiatives to improve manufacturing rate, decrease nonconformances, improve vehicle design, and support modifications.

We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight. Passion for our mission and vision is required!

Special Mentions:
• Relocation may be provided
• Travel expected up to 15% of the time
• Interviews will include a technical assessment

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Lead an integrated product team (IPT) to define configuration baselines for vehicle design changes, modifications, and variants.
• Own the integrated configuration across structural, mechanical, fluids, and electrical subsystems, ensuring a coherent vehicle-level design solution.
• Drive development and flow-down of configuration-related requirements and support verification planning for design changes.
• Lead cross-functional trade studies and impact assessments for proposed configuration changes and design options.
• Coordinate and communicate configuration and design changes across affected subsystems, resolving conflicts and dependencies.
• Own configuration management for assigned scope, ensuring accurate baselines, revisions, and traceability in alignment with Blue standards.
• Lead and review Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) within your area, ensuring completeness, technical accuracy, and configuration integrity.
• Define and maintain interface configurations between subsystems, including appropriate model-based definitions and control documents.
• Manage cross-module integration priorities and expectations, driving resolution of configuration and integration issues between engineering teams.
• Ensure that configuration baselines and documentation support major design reviews and integration milestones.
• Track and report configuration-related development status, including schedule, risk, and key technical issues for your scope.
• Ensure manufacturing, assembly, integration test, and concept of operations considerations are incorporated into configuration decisions.
• Provide technical guidance to integration and test teams to ensure configuration intent is understood and maintained.
• Champion adherence to configuration management best practices and Blue Origin configuration management standards across the IPT.

Minimum Qualifications:
• B.S. degree in engineering and at least 5+ years of experience in aircraft or spacecraft mechanical design, configuration, and layout engineering
• Demonstrated design configuration control experience on recently developed products and equipment used in oil/gas, aircraft, or launch vehicles from early trade studies through final design, and into manufacturing and test
• Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills and experience working in a highly integrated cross-functional team environment
• Strong design and integration skills using 3-D CAD software and visualization tools
• Demonstrated knowledge of scheduling and planning principles and tools

Preferred Qualifications:
• B.S. degree in engineering and at least 10 years of experience or M.S. degree in engineering and at least 8 year of experience
• Strong GD&T skills and experience with large tolerance stack-up analysis
• Experience using PTC Creo and Windchill
• Participated in a recognized configuration management training (CMII)
• Knowledge of aerospace vehicle fabrication and assembly techniques and related quality control concepts
• Ability to interpret and apply high-level system requirements to practical design solutions

Compensation Range for:
WA applicants is $121,023.00 - $169,432.20
