Full Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Configuration Manager to lead and execute configuration management across Quantum Space programs. In this role, you will own the engineering change lifecycle, manage controlled document releases, maintain product baselines, and ensure complete configuration traceability throughout spacecraft development. You will play a critical role in enabling rapid development while maintaining the discipline, data integrity, and configuration control required to successfully deliver flight hardware and software.

Where You'll Make an Impact
  • Process Engineering Change Requests (ECRs), Engineering Change Notices (ECNs), and Change Orders (COs) from initiation through approval, release, and closure.
  • Own the release of controlled engineering documents and drawings for flight and ground systems, ensuring completeness, revision accuracy, and proper approvals prior to release.
  • Maintain configuration status accounting, including configuration baselines, revision history, and change status across the product configuration structure.
  • Coordinate Interface Control Document (ICD) distribution and engineering change activities across engineering teams and program stakeholders.
  • Support Configuration Control Boards (CCBs) by preparing agendas, assembling change packages, documenting meeting minutes, and tracking action items through completion.
  • Administer configuration management workflows within Windchill and other PLM systems while ensuring lifecycle states and metadata remain compliant with the Configuration Management Plan (CMP).
  • Apply appropriate Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) and ITAR/EAR export control markings to controlled technical data in accordance with program and contractual requirements.
  • Partner closely with Systems Engineering, Integration & Test (I&T), Manufacturing, Software, and Program Management teams to facilitate efficient engineering change processing without sacrificing configuration integrity.
  • Support flight readiness reviews, test readiness reviews, configuration audits, and other program milestones by maintaining accurate configuration baselines and change records.

What It Takes
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3-6 years of experience in configuration management, document control, or engineering data management supporting aerospace or other complex hardware development programs.
  • Working knowledge of engineering change control processes, including ECRs, ECNs, COs, and configuration status accounting.
  • Hands-on experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) or document control systems; Windchill experience strongly preferred.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, bills of material (BOMs), and technical baselines.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to operate within highly controlled, auditable engineering environments.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing release notices and configuration status reporting.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance.

Nice-to-Have Experience
  • Experience supporting spacecraft or flight programs through launch and on-orbit operations.
  • Familiarity with configuration management standards such as EIA-649C, ASME Y14.100, MIL-STD-100, or equivalent NASA or DoD standards.
  • Experience managing Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and coordinating cross-functional engineering interfaces.
  • Familiarity with CUI, ITAR, and EAR requirements governing controlled technical data.
  • Hands-on experience supporting spacecraft manufacturing, integration, or environmental test activities.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced aerospace startup or advanced hardware development environment.

What You'll Get
  • Ownership - Lead configuration management across Quantum Space spacecraft programs, ensuring engineering documentation, product baselines, and flight configurations remain accurate, controlled, and mission-ready.
  • Innovation - Help build the configuration management processes and systems that enable rapid spacecraft development while maintaining engineering discipline and traceability.
  • Impact - Directly support mission success by ensuring engineering changes, technical documentation, and product configurations remain accurate, controlled, and audit-ready throughout the spacecraft lifecycle.
  • Growth - Join a collaborative team working alongside systems engineering, manufacturing, integration & test, software, and program management while helping scale configuration management across a rapidly growing aerospace company.
  • Compensation - Competitive salary, equity, and comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, generous leave, HSA, 401(k) matching, and equity participation.

Base Salary:$120,000 - $140,000

The salary range for this role is determined based on a variety of factors including work experience, education, technical expertise, certifications, critical skills, and business considerations.
