Minimum Qualifications:To be appointed to this position, you must:
- Ten years of full-time experience as a Municipal police officer, Deputy Sheriff, New York State Trooper, or Federal Law Officer of which three years must have involved providing supervision at the rank of Sergeant or above (see Note 1); and,
- Six years of full-time experience in executive protection and public setting threat assessment for high-profile public officials.
a) The authority to carry and conceal a firearm in New York State and under the Federal Law Enforcement Officers' Safety Act (see Note 2), and;
b) Possession of a valid New York State driver's license (see Note 2).
Note 1:
- A bachelor's degree in criminal justice or Sociology may be substituted for the three years of supervisory experience.
Note 2:
- Must maintain a) and b) as a condition of employment.
Preferred Qualifications/Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: - Demonstrated experience in executive protection and public setting threat assessment.
- Thorough law enforcement knowledge.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to professionally interact with high-level municipal and government officials and local law enforcement.
- High moral character and ethical standards.
- Skilled in the use of firearms.
- A physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
Traineeship Salary Information: The position may be filled at the XXX Trainee 1 title XXXX equated to SG-X Trainee 1 SG X ($XX Trainee 1 Salary XXX), XXX Trainee 2 title XXXX equated to SG-X Trainee 2 SG X ($XX Trainee 2 Salary XXX), or full performance XXX Title XXX SG-X Full Journey SG X ($XX Full journey Salary XXX) based on the candidate's education, experience, and previous state service. Salary is nonnegotiable.
Candidates hired at the trainee level will be advanced to the full performance XXX Title XXX SG-XFull Journey SGX following successful completion of the traineeship.
