Associate Computer Scientist / Test Systems Engineer (Accelerated Developmental Program - ACDP)

Kickstart your engineering career with a direct, fast-tracked path to a senior-level position (target full-performance level: NH-03). Under the direct mentorship of a Senior Computer Scientist within the 556th Software Engineering Squadron (556 SWES / MXDPB), you will design and develop advanced Test Program Sets (TPS) and Automated Test Equipment (ATE) software critical to establishing organic repair capabilities across the Air Force Sustainment Center (AFSC) enterprise.

What you will accomplish:

- Accelerated Career Progression: Capitalize on the Accelerated Compensation for Developmental Positions (ACDP) framework, built to rapidly transition you to a full-performance grade (NH-03) as you master critical competencies.

- World-Class Technical Mentorship: Work hand-in-hand with senior computer scientists and systems administrators who will actively invest in your technical, security, and leadership growth.

- High-Impact Avionics Missions: Design and verify the critical diagnostics and TPS software that tests flight-line Line Replaceable Units (LRUs) and Shop Replaceable Units (SRUs), keeping our combat aircraft mission-ready.

Key Responsibilities:

- Aviation Test Development: Design, develop, and rehost Test Program Sets (TPS) to enable precise functional and diagnostic testing for complex military aircraft electronics.

- Structured Professional Growth: Complete specialized formal, informal, and on-the-job training modules mapped out in your personalized Training & Development Plan.

- Systems & Configuration Support: Collaborate with systems administrators to maintain developer workstations, servers, user accounts, and multiple operating systems across Main Operating Bases (MOBs) and contracting sites.

- Verification & Quality Assurance: Support the gated TPS development pipeline, conducting rigorous validation, verification, and customer acceptance testing to ensure software integrity.

- Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft

- May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours

- Designated as a Non-Critical Acquisition Position and is covered by the Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP)

- Obtain and maintain Cyberspace certification

1. Professional knowledge of computer science, policies, theories, principles and concepts to apply to scientific methods and techniques to solve assigned problems.

2. Professional knowledge of theoretical foundations of computer science, including digital computer systems architecture and systems software organization.

3. Professional knowledge of computer science and related disciplines to design, develop and adapt scientific methods and techniques to recommend solutions for computer problems.

4. Ability to analyze, interpret and apply computer science procedures in a variety of situations and recommend effective solutions to senior scientists.
