We are looking for an experienced Compression Specialist to act as the senior technical expert for our West Coast Transmission compression fleet. Your expertise ensures safe, reliable, efficient, and environmentally conscious operation of vital compression and power generation assets in British Columbia. You will affect important operational and investment choices, enhance equipment reliability and performance, and work with diverse teams to help sustain our transmission operations over the long term.

What You Will Do:
  • Offer technical direction and oversight regarding the performance, reliability, and operational excellence of the West Coast Transmission compression fleet.
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts, root cause investigations, condition monitoring initiatives, and equipment performance analysis to improve asset reliability and availability.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Gas Control, Automation, Engineering, Projects, Supply Chain, OEMs, and vendors to support maintenance activities, capital projects, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Develop technical recommendations, repair scopes, maintenance approaches, and overhaul plans for compression and power generation equipment.
  • Support commissioning, startup activities, modernization projects, and facility expansions while ensuring compliance with company standards and safe work practices.
  • Monitor equipment health, fleet run hours, reliability metrics, and efficiency targets to find opportunities for performance optimization and lifecycle improvements.
  • Provide functional leadership, technical guidance, and mentorship to employees and contractors involved in compression analysis, maintenance planning, troubleshooting, and specialized field activities.

Who You Are:
  • Related university degree or equivalent experience and seven-plus years' experience OR nine-plus years of previous field operations experience, OR equivalent mix of formal education and experience.
  • Extensive experience in compression operations, maintenance, reliability, asset management, technical services, or a related field.
  • Strong expertise in gas compression systems, turbomachinery, rotating equipment reliability, maintenance planning, and asset lifecycle management.
  • Established skill in delivering technical direction, impacting operational methods, and boosting asset performance throughout multiple facilities.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and develop practical, risk-based solutions.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, partner management, and relationship-building skills.
  • Proficiency with maintenance management, asset management, and business systems.
  • Valid driver's licence with a safe driving record.

Preferred:
  • Professional designation or certification such as P.Eng., CTech, Red Seal/Journeyperson, or equivalent.
  • Experience with predictive maintenance, condition-based monitoring, equipment diagnostics, and reliability-centered maintenance practices.
  • Experience supporting major overhauls, commissioning activities, facility upgrades, and capital projects.
  • Ability to interpret technical documentation, performance data, and asset health information to develop actionable recommendations.
  • Experience mentoring technical teams and sharing subject matter expertise across geographically dispersed operations.
  • Demonstrated dedication to safety, environmental stewardship, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.

Working Conditions:
  • Regular travel to operational facilities and project sites is required.
  • Participation in field activities, troubleshooting efforts, maintenance events, and project support activities.
  • Occasional additional hours may be required to support operational priorities, outages, commissioning activities, and critical equipment events.
  • Safety-sensitive position requiring adherence to all company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
