Full Job Description
Lockheed Martin Space, Specialty Engineering, is seeking an Electrical Component Engineer, Senior Staff (Level V) to join our team. You will lead and/or assist in the performance of Electrical Component (Parts) Engineering, and development and execution of the program Electrical Electronic Electromechanical (EEE) Parts management plan. You will evaluate new technologies and work closely with survivability, designers, test and manufacturing engineers, agencies like DLA, Part Manufacturers and Test Labs. You'll use your education, experience and expertise to develop and evaluate new and innovative technology to survive in the harshest of environments and most critical strategic systems.
Summary of Key Duties:
• Define and lead Electrical/ Electronic/ Electromechanical (EEE) Parts Engineering technical assignments related to hardware design, manufacture and test
• Define and lead in the strategic approach to selection, qualification, test, and failure analysis of EEE Parts
• Prepare technical and progress reports on assigned tasks, prepare specifications, evaluate suppliers and analyze test reports
• Coordinate with other disciplines such as Design Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Engineering, and Procurement/Supply Chain organization
• Work on electrical components such as resistors, capacitors, diodes, integrated circuits (ICs), hybrids, crystals, crystal oscillators, filters, fuses, heaters, magnetics, microcircuits, relays, semiconductors, thermistors
• Travel and work closely with suppliers and government agencies to ensure electronic component selections meet both quality expectations and product performance requirements
• Work with leadership on technical mentoring plans and development opportunities for junior engineers

The information below reflects the standard job description for this position:

Conducts or participates in the selection, evaluation, qualification, testing and failure analysis of Electrical, Electronic, Electromechanical and Electro-optical (EEEE) Components intended for use in a Space Environment. Plans, directs, reviews and coordinates the preparation of project documentation to ensure customer contract and company requirements are met. Prepares EEEE Component Source Control Drawings (SCDs), evaluates vendors and analyzes EEEE Component test reports. The Component Engineer is responsible for the oversight of Subcontractor EEEE Components, generating/reviewing/approving Non-Standard Part Approval Requests (NSPARs) at Parts, Materials and Process Control Board (PMPCB) meetings, reviewing and approving engineering drawings and SCDs, participating/leading PMP issue resolutions and assisting/leading failure analysis under the EEEE Components domain.

Basic Qualifications
• Formal coursework, training, experience and/or knowledge in the design, analysis, and/or construction of electrical parts and circuits, semiconductor physics and/or operation of devices such as hybrids, integrated circuits, transistors, diodes and capacitors
• Advanced knowledge of design, functionality, manufacturing, materials and processes used in EEE parts
• Experience reviewing engineering drawings and/or specifications and providing guidance to design and test teams.
• Experience establishing and implementing technical requirements (specifications, program plans/ requirements, etc.)
• Experience or knowledge of failure analysis, destructive physical analysis and/or root cause and corrective action analysis related to EEE parts
• Eligibility/willingness to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance; U.S. Citizenship required

Desired Skills
• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics or Materials Engineering with emphasis on electrical parts, semiconductor physics or related field of study
• Familiarity with technical requirements (specifications, program plans/requirements, etc.)
• Experience leading and presenting in major program milestone reviews such as PDR and CDR
• Advanced understanding of Nuclear effects on EEE parts and demonstrated ability to work closely with Survivability Engineers in strategic Rad Hard applications
• Familiarity with military specifications and engineering requirements
• Advanced understanding of worst-case analysis (WCA) / EEE parts derating and end of life requirements
• Experience in leading the evaluation of current and developing technologies for EEE parts in complex design packages
• Active or Current Secret clearance

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $145100.00 - $269500.00

  • For (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
