Compliance Team Manager - Customs & Trade (Americas Region)Full-time | Assurance | Location - Olathe, KS
This is a unique "Player-Coach" role designed for a leader who isn't afraid to roll up their sleeves. You will be the primary technical authority for Americas compliance while leading a high-performing team. Reporting into our global structure-specifically to the Global Customs & Trade Compliance Manager or the VP Assurance in Belgium-you will bridge the gap between global compliance principles and regional strategy and execution.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES- Manage the regional team-yourself, a compliance expert and advisor, plus several indirect compliance stakeholders-overseeing day-to-day compliance operations.
- Foster an open, constructive, and proactive team spirit across the Americas region.
- Hire, coach, and appraise team members to ensure a positive, performant culture reflecting TVH's values.
- Translate applicable regional regulation and global compliance frameworks (e.g. Customs & Trade, Product) into implementable regional policies and procedures.
- Act as the regional authority and key point of contact for complex compliance requirements and cases, providing solution-oriented advice to stakeholders.
- Ensure timely escalation, both in the Americas region and within the Assurance function.
- Identify, investigate, and report on compliance requirements, risks, findings and trends (e.g. C-TPAT, Export Control, Origin Management).
- Identify bottlenecks in current governance and implement improvements to ensure TVH conducts business effectively, efficiently and with integrity.
- Suggest and support in building and strengthening Americas processes and controls to reduce compliance risk.
- Participate in and coordinate specific projects, ensuring compliance parameters are met from definition to delivery.
- Actively promote compliance awareness across all levels of the Americas organization.
- Report into our global structure-specifically to the Global Customs & Trade Compliance Manager or the VP Assurance in Belgium.
- Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS- Minimum of 5 years in international trade and compliance.
- Deep knowledge of customs regulations, internal controls, risk management, and monitoring techniques.
- Customs broker license and/or experience with product compliance is considered a plus.
- Proficient in the use of the Google Suite and able to quickly adapt to global compliance reporting tools and global trade management tools.
- Solution-oriented mindset-you don't just find problems, you come up with simple solutions to complex regulatory hurdles.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to report US metrics clearly and respectfully to America leadership and global Assurance leadership in Belgium.
- Proven ability to manage overlapping priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
