This job contributes to Starbucks success by ensuring that the company adheres to federal and state authorization requirements by educating and supporting hiring managers in the employment verification process. Coordinates, facilitates all work related to Predictive Pay Markets and Fair Work Week practices, ensuring that hiring managers meet requirements. Is future focused, ensuring continuous innovation and process improvement. Acts as peer leader and mentor to compliance specialists by providing expertise and guidance. Models and acts in accordance with Starbucks guiding principles.

As a compliance lead, you will...
  • Maintain knowledge of federal, state, and local work requirements to support compliance for the company
  • Develop, design, maintain and execute a reporting schedule and documentation of reporting procedures; ensure the timely and accurate generation of all reporting, ensuring consistency and standardization amongst the various types of reports and databases. Partner with technical teams to develop reporting solutions
  • Assist in the execution and distribution of standard metric reports, preparation of compliance input for management reviews and presentations. Maintain company compliance reporting, records, and related documentation.
  • Assist in regulatory assessments following established procedures; and prepare appropriate reports of audit findings to audited parties and management representatives
  • Investigate and develop solutions to procedure and process-related issues. Works cross-functionally to promptly resolve operational issues
  • Creates and maintains operational procedures, department wide communications and knowledge base articles
  • Maintains a thorough understanding of the systems and technology that support administration of Starbucks compliance programs and reporting
  • Consult with management and cross-functional partners to help formulate and implement proactive regulatory compliance strategies and controls
  • Participate in and/or lead project teams to improve processes at both local and global levels
  • Travel to in market Coffeehouses to help coach and guide our leaders through local compliance needs
  • Evaluate themes through audits to identify local needs
  • Investigate local jurisdiction changes and share with cross functional impacted partners

*If you are working in CA, CO, IL, LA, ME, MA, NE, ND or RI, you will accrue vacation up to a maximum of 120 hours (190 in CA) for roles below director and 200 hours (316 in CA) for roles at director or above. For roles in other states, you will be granted vacation time starting at 120 hours annually for roles below director and 200 hours annually for roles director and above.

The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity. At Starbucks, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the high end of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.
