Position Summary
Responsible for supervising chart abstraction by coding staff, assisting in resolving related billing activities, developing and implementing medical review processes for determining provider and non-physician provider compliance with government and other third-party payer regulations.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Supervises coding and implements the division’s compliance efforts, providing training and assistance as required.
  • Develops/implements a review process of medical charts for provider compliance with government and third-party regulations.
  • Conducts review sessions with providers and coding staff to educate them on compliance with carrier regulations.
  • Assumes a leadership role in developing documentation policies and procedures for the division.
  • Serves as liaison between providers, the School’s Compliance Office, and WUSBCS concerning coding issues.
  • Consult/advise physicians with billing problems.
  • Works with the Reimbursement Supervisor to address and resolve third-party denials.
  • Performs chart extraction duties as needed to maintain a timely and consistent workflow.
  • Assures available float coverage for all supervised positions.
