Full Job Description
This role involves developing and implementing compliance strategies, ensuring adherence to federal regulations, and mitigating compliance risks. The Senior Consultant will be instrumental in helping our clients achieve compliance excellence while aligning with governmental standards and regulations. This position will primarily support a federal civilian agency managing loan, grant, and financial aid programs, with opportunities to contribute to FMS's growth as a premier consulting firm. The role is hybrid, with occasional in-person meetings for client or team needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Compliance Strategy Development: Collaborate with federal clients to assess compliance risks, develop strategic compliance plans, and implement tailored solutions that align with federal regulations.
  • Risk Mitigation: Identify potential compliance risks, develop strategies to mitigate these risks, and ensure alignment with government standards.
  • Audit & Assessment: Conduct compliance audits and assessments, identifying areas of non-compliance, gaps, and risks. Develop actionable recommendations and remediation plans.
  • Policy & Procedure Development: Assist clients in developing and updating policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance with regulations and requirements.
  • Training & Capacity Building: Provide guidance and training to client teams on compliance best practices, ensuring that staff are equipped with the knowledge to maintain compliance.
  • Monitoring & Reporting: Establish and maintain monitoring systems to track compliance activities and outcomes, ensuring timely reporting to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Client Collaboration: Serve as a trusted advisor to federal clients, providing ongoing compliance support and guidance throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications
  • Experience: Minimum of 3-8 years of experience in federal government compliance consulting, regulatory compliance, or related fields.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline (Master's degree preferred).
  • Travel: Up to 50%
  • US Citizenship
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) or other compliance-related certifications are highly desirable.
  • Technical Skills: In-depth understanding of federal laws and regulations, OMB Circulars, and other authoritative guidance.
  • Communication: Exceptional communication skills with the ability to clearly explain complex regulatory requirements to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Project Management: Strong organizational and project management skills, with experience managing compliance projects in the federal sector.
  • Problem Solving: Proven ability to identify compliance risks and develop innovative solutions to address regulatory challenges.
  • Teamwork: Demonstrated ability to work in a team-oriented environment and collaborate effectively with both internal and client teams.
